Planets: The Moon, Your Mind and Emotions

Joni Patry explains the Moon's role in your birth chart: it governs emotions, mind, and your sense of security. The Moon rules Cancer, is exalted in Taurus, and weakened in Scorpio. Its house placement shows where you seek emotional comfort and stability.
Hi, I'm Joni Petrie and welcome to my YouTube channel. Today I'd like to talk about the Moon and what it means looking at it in your chart. Now, the Sanskrit name for the Moon is Chandra.
Chandra is the reflective force. It is the energy where as the sun sends out its rays of light, the Moon receives and reflects it back. So it's a principle of giving back. And remember, the Moon does not like to be isolated or alone in a chart. It needs to be surrounded by other planets because this gives a sense of support. When you go to a chart and you see the Moon by itself with no other planets around it in the houses before or after, many times this individual feels isolated and unsupported in life. The Moon deals with our feelings. It's high sensitivity, how do we really feel about things? And it also represents the mind and consciousness. So the Moon is our mind, how aware, how conscious an individual is. Whereas when we get to Mercury, that's how we process information. But the Moon is our consciousness, and therefore it also reflects the feminine influence. What is the Moon? Karaka, or indicator of the mother. And the mother is the one that gives influence in terms of nurturing, caring, protection. And it's relative to the fourth house, which is all about nurturing, caring and protection. And the part of the body that the rules is the stomach and the breast, because remember, the breasts do nurture the baby. So it's all about mothering. It's all about this caring and feeling secure. The Moon represents our sense of security. If we feel protected, we feel secure, and this will bring happiness. If you're looking at a chart and you look to see if the Moon is with other planets, for example, if it's with Jupiter, it will bring out an optimistic, happy individual. If you see it with Saturn, there will be seriousness and sometimes lead to depression. If the Moon is with Mercury, this person can never ever stop thinking. It's always this cognitive thought going on and they don't know how to turn off mind. If you see the Moon with.
Neptune, Uranus, the outer planets, you'll see that there's this very intensity in the mind. Uranus means the emotions never stop. They're very unpredictable in how they're going to be feeling. Whereas Neptune can be the mystic, the spiritualist in Pluto means they must be in control of situations and possibly even have a very controlling mother. So looking at the Moon as it is in different houses, the Moon in the first house will make one very sensitive to everything. They feel and sense everything in the environment, where if it's in the second. This will fluctuate with finances. Remember, wherever the moon is represents fluctuations as well. So in the third house, sometimes it can mean you're the youngest one, or that brothers and sisters are unpredictable, they go and come in your life. In the fourth house, the mother is very nurturing. And also remember, depending on the signs will make a big, big difference, because the moon is in its own sign. In Cancer, the moon rules Cancer. So when people have the moon in Cancer, they're highly sensitized and they feel everything, people's feelings, feelings, emotions around them. So the moon rules Cancer, but its exaltation sign is in Taurus, meaning it is bright and shining and has this unique sensuality about it when it's in Taurus. But when the moon is in Scorpio, it is debilitated. And this means there's an over extremity in the feelings that can sometimes be detrimental to the individual. Or one thing for sure is the moon in Scorpio is extremely passionate about life and very devoted. So the moon in the fifth house can represent. I have found many times this isn't always the case, but many times they have just one child because they somehow feel like they cannot imagine loving a child as much as they do. So sometimes that limits the children. The moon in the sixth house can represent stomach disorders, problems with the stomach at times, because remember, the moon rules the stomach. In the sixth house of health, there could be some problems with digestion. Moon in the seventh house, fluctuating partners, or a partner that never seems to be making up their mind. The moon in the eighth house is very, very difficult because it represents the mother had a hard life and. And there is a lot of emotional issues. The moon in the ninth house represents so many instances where the father is on the go, not there, elusive at times. In the 10th house, the moon can represent fame, it can represent the public, the masses. The moon in the 11th, a lot of associations, but none are that close. Sometimes it's just surface level associates. The moon in the 12th can sometimes mean someone that's really attached to the past and they have to learn to let go. The moon in and of itself represents the past, our feelings, our sensitivities, the mother. So. So when you're looking at a chart, these are the things you have to remember. The moon rules Monday, and in order to pay homage to the moon, you would wear white as this reflective force, because the gemstone, well, it's not actually a gem, but it's the pearl. The pearl is what you would wear to represent the moon. And many times I find that those that want to get pregnant when they start to wear the pearl, they find it a lot easier to conceive.
So that's pretty much all I want to say about the moon today. If you would like more information, you can always go to my website, which is GalacticCenter.org and if you want to learn Vedic astrology, go to my university, universityofvedicastrology.com thank you.
