Hi, I'm Joni Petrie, and welcome to my YouTube channel. Well, today I want to talk about retrograde planets because there's so much out there. When we talk about Mercury, retrograde, or Saturn or Jupiter, whatever, what does retrograde really mean? How can we use it to better affect our life in a positive way? So when Mercury goes retrograde. Well, first, let's talk a little bit about the astronomy. I know it's kind of a hard concept to understand because really, what does that mean? Do planets really go retrograde? No, of course not. But here's the deal. It's like imagine if you see the planets revolving around the sun, which we all go around the sun, and then you see this point where the Earth may pass up a planet. So you were coming along another planet. We pass it up. It feels, it looks from our vantage point to be going retrograde. But in reality, nothing really does go retrograde because everything is going around the sun, all of our planets in our solar system, but when they appear to go retrograde, it's symbolic. And whatever that planet symbolizes becomes a focus. Why? Because when you think about all the planets going in direct motion and there's one that's going in the opposite direction of the forward motion of all the planets, then that planet, whatever it rules, becomes a focus. You see, in Vedic astrology, planets that are retrograde, they say, are stronger. But what does that really mean? Stronger means more of a focus. So whatever it's about will be a focus, something we have to pay attention to. I sometimes call a retrograde planet like a dyslexic planet, because it's different, it learns different, it processes differently than the forward motion of the other planets. But a retrograde planet is. It's not a bad thing. People put it in a bad context, probably because when Mercury goes retrograde, yes, everything does go haywire. Why? Well, because.
That planet needs to be paid attention to. And everything is the ebb and the flow, the universe, everything. There's a time when things move forward. There's a time when things should move back. We don't know how to pull back and take our time and review. We just want to keep pushing forward all the time. And therefore, we have the result of things going haywire. Now, let me explain another thing. When a planet is retrograde, it doesn't matter if you're looking at Vedic or Western astrology, when a planet goes retrograde, it goes retrograde on the same days. It's just that in Vedic astrology, we may be looking at a different Sign because everything in the sidereal Vedic chart moves backwards almost a full degree. Actually, to be exact, it's about 20, 23 degrees, 40 minutes in the Zodiac that the placements from the Western to the Vedic, they're backwards 23 degrees, 40 minutes. Now there's 30 degrees in a sign. So it's not a complete whole sign, but almost a sign. By the way, did you know that Edgar Cayce, who was one of the most prolific psychics of the 20th century, said in one of his trance medium sessions that Western astrology was off by almost a full sign? I paid attention to that. That's what got me into studying this system. But aside from that, to go back to the Mercury and the retrograde planets. When a planet is retrograde, whatever it's about will be the focus. So currently today, which we're in July.
We have five planets. Retrograde. What in the world would that mean? It means things don't usually go forward. But it also means it's a time to review, to reassess, to reanalyze, to reflect. That's what retrogrades are all about. And if we use that time that it's meant for, we improve and make our lives better. And when it is time to move forward and do the new boy, is that valuable? Because we don't have to deal with any of the mistakes that we might have made if we didn't pay attention and do our homework during the retrogrades. Now I do think that when Jupiter is retrograde, it does have its effects on the economy and money. Jupiter is abundance and wealth. So right, right now we have the Jupiter retrograde. By the way, take note of the degrees that the planets turn direct or retrograde because if you have planets in your chart, conjunct those degrees, it will be an amazing experience because things will light up in your chart and in your life. So Jupiter is going TO station, say Aug. 11, 2019. When Jupiter stations and goes direct, anyone that has a planet around the degree that it stations, which is approximately 20 degrees Scorpio, look out. That's going to be a powerful, powerful experience for you. In a positive an opportunity, something big will arise out of it. So really it's going to be all the degrees that Jupiter is aspecting, which is what, 20 degrees of Scorpio, 20 degrees of Taurus, or 20 degree of the water signs, Pisces and Cancer. If you have any planets, those degrees look out and opportunities coming for you. Okay, so that's a little tidbit that I know you're going to Be scrambling to see if you've got those degrees in your chart. Go to my website to the free chart calculator. You can find out all the degrees of all your planets in your chart. So where is that going to be? Galactic Center.org. go to the chart calculator. So moving on. Saturn. Saturn has been stationing back and forth in Sagittarius.
And those of you that have a moon or you have any planets there, around 24 to 20 degrees of Sagittarius, boy, are you being bombed. I mean, you feel like something's holding you down and pushing you to the ground. But let me say this. What will come out of it later will be your greatest gift. I know it doesn't feel good and I know it's not fun, but a gift will come that you'll look back and go, oh, my God, thank God that happened. So what are those degrees again? Around 20 degrees and 24 degrees of Sagittarius. Always the opposite degrees to that are powerful as well. So what will those be? 20 to 24 degrees of Gemini. Pay attention.
To those degrees in a chart. So Mercury is going to station at 29 degrees.
On July 31, 29 degrees of Gemini. So Mercury is retrograde right now in the sign of cancer. So while it's going backwards in the sign of cancer, it crossed over Mars. So everyone's in an emotional tizzy. They're all upset, angry, and all of this is going to pass because once these planets go direct, you'll look back and go, what was I so upset about? Mark my words. But as Mercury stations on that 29 degree Gemini, it will bring to surface some of the effects of this lunar eclipse. Because the lunar eclipse happens at 29 degrees of Gemini. So I want you to know that this lunar eclipse and this Mercury retrograde are tied in together very, very important. And if you have a planet 29 degrees of Gemini or 29 degrees of Sagittarius, the truth will be revealed to you about things you didn't know in your life very, very soon. Wait and see. Mercury is all about communications. And when it goes retrograde, it will bring things up.
Things to review, to reflect on, because it is the past. This is the power of retrogrades. This is a whole cyclic process that we must pay attention to.
Mark those degrees where retrograde station, either to go retrograde or go direct. Because when we talk about stationing planets, what are they? That's when a planet is changing directions and in the process of going from direct to retrograde, which this is called stationary retrograde or if it's going from retrograde direct, it's called stationary direct. At those junctures, the planet seems to stand still for a time and it will spend more time on those degrees. That's why they're so intense during the stations. And I believe that if you have planets where the stationings occur, natal planets where these transiting planets make their station, whatever that planet's about is going to make a major, major impact for you in your life at that time. So pay attention. This is a very, very cool tool and technique that can reveal so much in your life. Retrogrades have a purpose. Remember, it's the ebb and flow of the tide, the time to push forward when, when a planet's going direct and it's time to pull back and reflect when a planet's going retrograde. Use these times in your life to help change your life. So with that I'd like to close.
