Secrets of the Houses: 4th House of Happiness

YouTube video transcript of Joni Patry introducing a series on the astrological 'houses' with a focused lecture on the fourth house in Vedic astrology. Patry emphasizes the fourth house as a powerful Moksha (spiritual liberation) house, its links to security, home, mother, the heart, happiness, heredity, and its inter-house relationships (4th as 2nd from 3rd, 7th from 10th, 8th from 9th, etc.). She closes with references to her book and courses.

Hi, I'm Joni Petrie and welcome to my YouTube channel. Well, today I want to start a very special series about secrets of the houses. And what you're going to find from this is some valuable tools and techniques to take away that when you're looking at a chart, you won't forget because there's certain variables to certain houses that are so specific and you don't understand until you really understand how the houses are work together in terms of their numbers and their relationship. But these meanings are what I want you to get out of this. But I want to inform everyone that there's a particular book I wrote a while back. I really do consider this my favorite book of all that I've written. And it, and it's actually my third book, I wrote it quite some time ago. It's called Astrology, the divine order of the universe, Houses, number, signs and planets. What this is, is it really takes into account from house to house and how I got these specific meanings that actually will change the way that you look at a chart because there is so many, so much meaning that you never thought of. Because when we look at the houses, we particularly look at them as certain meanings. But we don't go beyond looking from house to house. And that's what this series is here to teach you. Now, I do already have a series on this YouTube channel on each house which are very descript and detailed. I made them years ago, but they're worth going back and taking a look at because I went to great lengths to talk about each house in terms of the generalities of what it's known for. But here I'm going to talk about specifics that I didn't talk about in the previous series on all 12 houses. Now, houses are actually areas of life. So they're called the Babas. The Babas are the houses which represent center areas of our life that when the planets are placed there or transiting through those areas of our life become relevant. They come into play during the times that we, if we do, Natalie, have planets there or if planets are moving through there according to their transits. But the house I want to just talk, talk about today, the one that I feel like, well, all of the houses, in my opinion, they never get enough credit for what they're all about because in Vedic astrology we're always looking at Dastanas, meaning the bad houses, or the Triconals, which are the good houses, or the Kendras, which are the powerhouses. But let's just break it down to, from House to house. And the house that I think doesn't get enough credit because it is so powerful is the fourth house. The fourth house, generally, people always talk about the fourth house as the mother, the home. And most of all, what that all boils down to, what the fourth house is truly about is our sense of security. Because all the things relative to the fourth house give us our sense of security, such as the mother, such as the place where we live, our home, such as. Such as our family. And this is all the fourth house. Now, there's certain memorizations of what the fourth house is, but I want to give you a few that you'll never imagine or think of. Now, the fourth house is considered a moksha house. And moksha actually means spiritual liberation from this world. So it is an extraordinarily spiritual house. And we don't necessarily think this right off the bat because we're not thinking in terms, we're thinking of home, mother, family. But it is a Moksha house. And what you're going to find is when you really look and delve into what this house is truly about.
You will find that it's ultimately, many times it's seen as the end of life. Because if you consider the fourth house as being the home.
Where do we go at the end of life? We return to our eternal home. This is the true ultimate Moksha House of all. And here's another thing that makes this Moksha House, since the Moksha Houses are the houses that deal with our spiritual liberation, the Moksha houses are relative actually to the water signs, because in the natural zodiac, the water signs are Cancer, which is the fourth sign, Scorpio, which is the eighth sign, and Pisces, which is the twelfth sign. Therefore, these are the signs that are relative to these houses in the natural zodiac, and they're the water signs. So These houses are 4, 8 and 12. These are the Moksha houses. But when we talk about it being moksha, now, the fourth house is the only Moksha house that is also a Kendra, meaning an angular house. What are the angular houses? 1, 4, 7 and 10. The angular houses are the houses that give power. They are, when you have planets and an angle or a Kendra, they both mean the same thing.
These planets have enormous power in your chart because these are the houses that give power. So when you consider a Moksha House, that's also a Kendra angle, it has to mean that it's powerful in delivering its spiritual liberation from this world. Because. Because I call the fourth house the Alpha and the Omega, it's almost like where things begin and end. It's one. It's our eternal home. It is oneness with the divine. And where did they say the divine resides? In our heart. The fourth house rules the heart. Many people that have heart issues, you're going to see malefic planets there or people that have a good heart. And when we talk about the heart.
We talk about love as well, and people that die of a broken heart. It's relative to the fourth house, because the fourth house deals with what? Love and the heart. And this is where our eternal home is. They say that God resides in our heart. This is the fourth house. This is so beautiful. And when we talk, all the movies that have deep meaning refer to going home. I talk about this in my book that, you know, even the wizard of Oz, that movie, throughout the whole movie, most of you have probably seen it. Dorothy's always trying to return home, and she says there's no place like home. In the end of the movie, she wakes up and she is home. And she didn't realize she was there all the time. Because the people in this dream or this vision of looking for home were there in this dream. And at the side of her bed, she was already home the whole time. That's the whole beauty of there's no place like home. We're always searching for that feeling of home, which gives us a feeling of security, and not only security.
When we feel like we're at home.
And we have that love of home, this is where we're happiest. Did you know that the fourth house in Vedic astrology is considered the house happiness?
Because you can't be happy if you're not secure. And you don't have that feeling of always yearning to be one with something. And that's a feeling of returning home.
But let me give you some other variables about how this fourth house can deliver what it's all about and why. I believe it deals with moksha.
Well, when we consider the moon, the moon is relative to the fourth house. It picks up great strength by being in the fourth house. It's actually called a karaka for the fourth house. And if you consider cancer being the fourth sign, the moon rules cancer. Therefore it has this great affinity to the fourth house. So if the moon deals with this reflective power of the light of the sun, and we consider the fourth house as the heart, also the fifth house rules the heart as well. You wonder, how can both houses rule the heart? Well, I discovered that there's different chambers of the heart. One that puts Blood out and one that receives blood.
So therefore, since the moon is the reflective power of the heart, the fourth house is what receives the blood. But the fifth house, which is energetically connected to Leo, because Leo's the fifth sign. Therefore, the sun is reflected by the fifth house, and it also rules the heart. Then the fifth house is that part of the heart that pushes the blood out, because the sun puts out its light, but the moon receives it. So you see how there's this flow of love and this flow of energy and blood through the heart, through the fourth and the fifth house. But aside from that, and that's a huge big deal to consider how the fourth house is. I want to take you down the road of how to look at from house to house, because that's what I think is very special about this class and about my book, which is the Divine order of the universe, talking about from house to house and how each number has an effect, the number of the houses. So if you consider the second house to any house will always be the house that you receive from that house. Receive income, money, things from the house before, because the second house is money.
So if you consider the second house from the fourth, if the fourth house is the mother, the home, the family, and also our real estate, that's what it is, then you'll find that the second house to that will give money from the fourth house. So the fifth house is money you may receive from the mother, but the fourth house is the second house from the third house. Remember, you're always going to be counting these houses as starting with that house is one. So if you start from the third house, one, two, the fourth house is the second from the third, which means this is the house that can give you money through what, brothers and sisters, or through third house variables such as writing, such as communications, such as education. And maybe that is why the fourth house in Vedic astrology is looked at the house of degrees, such as masters or doctorates. It's a house where you get degrees. And another thing is it's people who are really good with taking tests, being able to memorize. When you have a moon in the fourth house, you can have an incredible memory. You can take tests, you don't need to study so much, you can recall so much easier, because this is the house that is the second from the third, which means gifts and money that are received from the third house, which deals with siblings, which deals with school, education and your communication skills, such as possibly writing a book or something of that nature. Money received from that so another thing is the fourth house is the seventh house from the tenth. So the fourth house can give you some incredible information as to what business partnerships will do for you, because it's the seventh from the tenth and your tenth house is talking about your, your career.
Business. So seventh from that is partnerships. And this can be how partnerships will work for you in business, depending on which planets are there. Also, don't forget, eventually you'll be looking at the ruler of each house placed in another house. It brings the energy from one house to another. And I also talk about this in great detail, my book on astrology, the divine order of the universe. So next I want to talk about how the fourth house can be the death of the father. And I have seen this many times. As a matter of fact, when you see planets such as Saturn transiting through the fourth house, you're thinking, and it can really dissolve the family. You know, endings around family endings with parents.
The death of the mother, but also the death of the father, because it is the eighth house from the ninth. The ninth house is the house of the Father in Vedic astrology, not the 10th. The. So if you count eight houses from the ninth house, starting with the ninth, you will arrive at the fourth house in the eighth house to any house would represent death of what that house is about. The eighth house is death, it's endings. So the eighth house from the ninth house is the fourth house. It can deal with the death of the father. And sometimes some disgraceful situations are hidden agendas for the Father, since it is eighth from the ninth.
Now another thing is that I think is very interesting that the fourth house can be because it is the fifth house from the 12th house. The this can deal with the fourth house gives us spiritual knowledge, especially from dreams. Remember, the 12th house deals with our dreams and the fifth house can bring that knowledge forth. So the fourth house can give you that information as well. But one more thing that I think is important is it is the sixth house from the 11th house. So if you're counting from the 11th, start with the 11th as one count around and you will arrive at the fourth house being the sixth from the 11th. And what does that tell you? It can deal with healing, ultimate healing, or healing work, or even healing friends or helping friends. That's another thing. But.
Remember, if the second house from any houses gains from that house, such as the fourth house is the second from the third.
Then the fourth house is also the twelfth from the fifth and the twelfth to any house is losses from that house. So what I Find is planets in the fourth house. Being 12th from the fifth can be endings for children leaving home, empty nesters, things of that nature. It's so interesting that you would think that once a planet, when it's in, you know, like Saturn, transiting into the fifth house, that's usually when children leave the nest. But many times it happens when Saturn's in the fourth house because the fifth house is children. But when transiting planets are in the 12th from any house, it's a loss of that house. So the children go away, they leave home when a particular malefic planet, such as Saturn or Ketu, would transit through the fourth house because it's the loss to children. I'm not saying it's anything horrible, but just they're leaving home and the fourth house is home anyway. So I just wanted you to get a better feel of some of the very intricate and special meanings to the houses by looking at from house to house. And the fourth house is so rich with meaning because it is the heart and it is the soul. Remember that the fourth house, the soul, is where the heart is and that is our home. And what is ultimately what it's all about is in terms of moksha, is it is our spiritual home when we return home and we are one with the divine. This is what the fourth house is about. How incredibly powerful is that? No wonder it is a moksha house, spiritual liberation. And it is an angular house which is the strongest for moksha, because that's ultimately where we reside. And many times it is the end of life. You'll see the fourth house, it's never spoken of as being death and endings, but if you consider it as one of the water houses, the 8th and the 12th house are also death. So is the 4th. And don't forget these houses, 4, 8 and 12 also deal with the past and have deep richness about understanding, dealing with the past. So I find that this is the house where we will let go of things from the past, because.
It is the 12th house from the. It is the 12th house from the 5th and it is 5th from the 12th. And to me, being 5th from the 12th is the ability to let go of the past, because that never benefits you to hang on to things from the past. It's always about moving forward. So I hope that you now can get a better sense when you see people have planets in the fourth house, rather than just thinking of it as mother, home, family. There's a richer, deeper connotation to this house. Much deeper. And do not forget the power of the fourth house because people that have planets here, because it does deal with the past, also deals with heredity.
And I have found people that have Neptune in this fourth house many times. There's secrets they don't know about their past and their family, particularly the mother. So don't forget it is also the past and our heritage. But most of all, it is the House of Happiness. So with that, I'd like to close.
