Well, hello, everyone. We are live this morning and I have my dear friend Dennis Harness, and we're going to be talking about the Sedona Conference, which is an incredible conference. I'm really looking forward to it. I want Dennis to kind of give you guys the information on what it's going to be like. But hold on one second. I'm going to.
Dennis, can you hear me? Okay, Are you there?
Yeah, I can hear you. Great, Joni, Perfect.
Good. So just double checking everything. Let me.
Hold on. There we go. Okay. Dennis, I am so thrilled to be with you this morning. This is incredible. And I want everyone to know about your conference. Your conference is the best. I mean, you have speakers from all over the world and I mean, you really cover everything. So anyone that is wanting to learn Vedic astrology and wants to get in touch with some of the most well known speakers in our community, this is the conference. Dennis, you want to tell them a little bit about where it's at, how to get there, the dates, the times.
Sure. Thanks for inviting me, Joni, this morning. You're welcome. Yeah. The Sedona Vedic Astrology Conference is actually. It's the 27th year that I've been putting on conferences.
Wow.
Honestly, I feel like this is the best. We have over close to 40 speakers, faculty from all over the world, coming from India, Japan, different cultures throughout Europe. So it's truly an international event. The dates of it are November 21st to the 25th, and it's going to be held again in Sedona, Arizona, which, if you've never been to Sedona, it's amazing place. It's the vortexes. The spiritual energy is just flying here. So coming here is like a spiritual retreat. And the Native American Indians never lived in Sedona. They treated it as their temple. So they would come here to gather, to do their vision quest and to do their spiritual practices. So coming here is a spiritual experience just in and of itself. We have several people, including yourself, who's you're our featured faculty, our featured keynote speaker on Friday night. And you'll be talking about predictions for 2020. You're also giving an all day workshop on the Moon, your new book. And so it's going to end, I think, on predictive planetary periods. You're doing a lecture on the weekend as well? Yes, we're putting Joni to work.
I love it. You know, I love to teach and I love this more than anything in the world. So let me just tell Everybody about my two lectures. And of course, I am doing the 2020 predictions, which I truly believe this is going to be a groundbreaking year. Everything's about to shift. You know, I really believe that Jupiter K2 conjunction is going to open up spirituality in a big way. And why do we all get into Vedic astrolog the first place? Because we want to grow on a spiritual level. That's what it was about for me. And I think we're going to come into some deep information about how we can navigate better in 2020 with this spiritual aspect of Jupiter with K2 in the sign of Sagittarius. Now I chose to do my talk on the moon, Moon, mine and consciousness because I really feel the moon is such an important planet in our chart. I mean it sets up the whole Vim Chautri Dasha system. It's, you know, depicts our entire life cycles. I mean that's our natal moon. And plus the moon is the planet that reveals our awareness, our consciousness, based on what? Our past. Because the moon is the past. Plus it deals with our sense of security, our mother. And with that, that really does filter and determine how we feel about practically everything in our life. Because the moon really does deal with our feelings. And you know, we always remember things, whether it's music, friends, people, events in our life by the way things make us feel. That's the moon. Plus I always tell everyone we've got to remember always, never forget to look at a chart from Chandra Lagna. You'll miss major important things because this gives you a sense of how you feel, your emotional body, which actually does determine a lot of your belief systems too. So this is deep, deep stuff really. Analyzing the, the moon. We're going to look at some amazing charts with very famous people that have a lot of the moon's yogas. Remember when we're talking about the moon's yogas, we're talking about looking at everything based on, from the moon. So Chandra Lagna, where are the planets based relative to where your moon is? In a chart will give you so much information as to who you are, where you're going. And the last part of this conference, I mean this workshop, it's going to be most of an all day workshop is we're going to talk about how to use the moon in terms of mahurta, how you can choose the best days for certain events. Of course you're going to be looking at your Nakshatras, your tithies, you know, the pachanga, this is the Indian lunar calendar that they use to prepare and choose events for. But I think it's so very important when you're choosing a day for anything to recognize what planets are aspecting the moon as it transits day in to day out. What Nakshatra going to talk about that for a good portion of the lecture plus talking about personal charts. The other class which is my favorite, I'm going to be doing a class during the conference on how to predict and I know well how to forecast things in terms of and we, you know, I'm a big believer in free will. So we do have the ability to choose certain things. But look at your transits, look at your dashes. What is going to be evolving from that? And one of the main features that I think are really important with transits and you know, transits are one of my favorite favorite things to predict with because it's the cycles of the planets relative to our birth chart but the stations, retrogrades and stations. I'm going to talk extensively on that with this class. So that's a little type. Unless you want to ask me any questions Dennis, about any of this about what I'm excited about speaking about. But tell me more about what other people are speaking about and who's speaking.
Well, I thought it was interesting. I just thought of the that when you teach your intensive and you do your predictions, it's going to be on November 22, which is 1122, which are both master numbers in numerology actually picked that date. But I was just thinking about that again. It just refreshed my memory in terms of how powerful that particular day is when you're teaching really pretty much throughout the whole day. So that's fantastic. Love it. Also have in terms of the keynote speakers or the featured faculty, excuse me, we have Camilla Sutton who's going to do an all day workshop on Jupiter on Thursday, Jupiter's Day on 21 November. And at the same time there's going to be another intensive with Ronnie Gail Dreyer and she's going to be teaching on Sanskrit for Vedic astrologers. So we have really, which I think is really important, a lot of women represented in terms of our featured faculty. So about 75% of our attendees are women. So again not to exclude us men. So we get to hang out with all the Devi's, you know, it's wonderful. We also have Alan Anand coming down from Toronto, Canada who's going to be doing an all day workshop on Thursday the 21st on Kalasarpa Yoga when all the planets are between the nodes of the moon and and he's written a book on this, which is really fascinating. And I, of course, I have it in my chart, so I had to live it, you know, me too.
You and I are not born too far apart. You know that.
We're about three months apart. Yeah. And Kalasarpa, you know, we're still vertical, right, Joni?
Yeah, we're sillier.
One of our other featured faculty is James Braha, who has not come. I think he was. We were talking about it. He hasn't lectured at one of our conferences for about 18 years.
Wow. Yeah. Hey, that's a nodal return. Right? He's, he's back and, you know, his books were some of the books that we all were teething on when we first started with Vedic many, many years ago. He had some powerful, beautiful books.
Yeah. And he's going to be doing an all day workshop on how to interpret a chart and giving all of his secrets. So that should be a fascinating intensive. He's also giving a lecture on the weekend of Things I Wished I would have known 40 years ago, because he's practicing for 40 years. So he's been in the trenches for a long, long time. For four decades.
So we also have Mas Vidal teaching on Ayurveda, Vedic astrology, an all day workshop on that Friday as well. And then finally we have Pandit Samavedula, who's speaking on the Rig Veda and the mantras for the planets. So that should be fascinating. So you can see there's a lot of choices here and Joni's intensity is filling up really nicely. So again, you can come and just actually take Friday if you want, but we would encourage you to take the whole conference. Of course. But if you just want to have a Joni day, you can come on Friday, the 22nd experience. Joni.
Yeah. And you know what I love about these conferences more than anything? Well, you know, I've got a lot of Libra planets.
Right.
I love meeting new friends and people. And some of my dearest best friends I've met at your conference. Dennis, you brought us all together and, you know, we can have all these talks all we want on, you know, online, but how powerful is that to come into, be in person with people and get to socialize with them, really get to know them, become friends and what an incredible place to do this, really. I think Sedona is one of the most mystical places in the world. I often tell many people when I travel around the world. If you come to the United States, you have to go to Sedona. It is mystical, spiritual, and, you know, I'm so proud of you for being able to put on these incredible conferences that brings us all together. And I have formed such beautiful friendships.
Yeah, it's interesting. I was looking at. We have over 200 attendees already coming, counting the faculty, so it may be the largest conference that we've had in Sedona.
I love that.
You know, it's interesting that you bring out our spiritual family reunion, which is wonderful to connect up with our old friends for many, actually several decades that we've known these people. So it's fantastic. But I was looking at the attendees and I think it's about Joni. About 50% new people. Wow.
So it's really a lot of new, fresh energy coming in. And some of these students are, you know, as you know, are awesome. They know as much more than we do because they're on the cutting edge and they're learning and they're just in love with Vedic astrology, which. It is a love affair, you know, I find what draws you in.
Yeah, it's a passion and I think it chooses us. We cannot get away from it because it just is so exciting to learn all this stuff. I mean, when you start seeing how it all works in your chart, you. It is. I mean. Yeah. And this conference is going to really wake up everybody because, you know, this is on the press right at the beginning, before this whole year of 2020, that. Well, and you even have this conference. Jupiter just entered into Sagittarius by that time on November 4th. So we're going to see some powerful energy come alive while we're here at this conference in terms of the spiritual, you know, manifestation of what this 2020 is going to be about, I believe, don't you, Dennis?
Yeah, it's interesting that Jupiter and SAG is going to be conjunct Venus early in the sign of Sagittarius. And then we've got Mercury stationing going direct the day conference starts. So there's a lot of powerful energy happening during the conference. And, you know, on Monday, I wanted to mention the intensives. On Monday the 25th, we have Jeffrey Armstrong lecturing on how to become a better karma mechanic.
He's one of our favorite speakers, you know, and his intensive is almost full, so he's doing great in terms of drawing people in. And he has a strong Sangha, strong community that follows him. We also have Andrew Foss talking about different DASHA systems in addition to Bim Chaudhary DASHA system. And Sam Jeppe is going to be talking about TJIKA astrology and the connection with the Persian astrology and the interface between the two.
And then we have an all day workshop on Vedic deities with Mano Mike Chalam. So you can see that there's a lot of intensives to choose from. And I should say too that we've devoted a yoga room, we have the Sedona room in the conference center devoted to yoga. We have yoga classes going throughout the whole conference. So even if you want to learn a little astrology, but get into your yogini body or yoga body, then we have all the workshops and lectures and actually experiences of practicing yoga throughout the five days of the conference, throughout the weekend again, as Joni's talking about predictive planetary periods, we have a number of incredible lectures happening on. I think Rodney Dreyer is talking about eclipse energies and a number of lectures. I think Camilla Sutton's talking on Rahu and Ketu. We have a number of speakers on the Nakshatras. So there's a variety. And like I said, there's close to 40 faculty coming this year. So I was looking last night at the lectures again and I was just like really amazed at the depth of the lectures that are going on. And I should say too, for our tropical astrology friends, this is a very user friendly conference. We have I think four or five tropical astrologers coming to teach tropical techniques for Vedic astrologers. So which I think is very important. And Joni and I are both, as your listeners know, are both neo Vedic astrologers. And we bring in techniques that we learned from tropical astrology and interface them with the Vedic tradition. Because I think the spirit of the Vedas was always to be open to new thought, to new fresh energy, when not to become closed down and concretized into a static, rigid system.
Yeah, I think at this conference, I mean it covers everything. I mean there is something for everyone. And I love the way you have the longer classes because we can get into some depth in these classes. It's not just, you know, I feel like when you just brush the surface of something. No, there is depth. People are going to walk away with new tools, techniques and new understanding and new knowledge. That is what this is all about, you know, knowledge. And what does knowledge do? It just really opens the door to our spiritual truth. Because when you have the knowledge, then that helps us in terms of our growth. And I believe that's what this is, you know, the science of light. This is the science of knowledge. It really helps us in our daily lives and to grow. And most of all this hotel that you have it at, Dennis, brings back so many memories. Oh, my God. I remember like, what, 20 years ago when we started all this.
1998 was the first.
Yeah, I remember. Oh, my God, that hotel. It was like, so excited, exciting to go there because this is what we love, coming together in the most beautiful place on earth. I really, if you guys are on the fence about coming to this conference, you will not regret it. This will be an experience that you'll never forget. And one thing I want everyone to know, if you're coming here, I want you to come up and say hello to me because I love to meet new people. Do not be standoffish and think, does she want to talk to me? Yes, I do. Please come up, introduce yourself. I want to meet all these new, exciting people that are excited about learning this incredible, you know, science. This is a science. So, Dennis, do you, do you want to say anything else and see if we have anybody that wants to ask questions but say anything?
I would to emphasize that the lectures on the weekend, as Joni was saying, are actually two and a half hour lectures. Exactly. You can really go in depth. And, you know, we have Eve Mendoza, Kshantati, Nakshatra, a number of other speakers that are coming again throughout the world that have big YouTube presences as well. So I really appreciate you doing this for us. I want to say to your listeners that the hotel, I just checked last night and there's still rooms available, but it really is getting close to selling out. And so definitely, if you want to come, you can go online on our website, sedona vedicastrology.com and go register, of course, for the conference, but also go into accommodations and make sure you get your room. We'll have a backup resort, which is really nice as well, but it's just nice to stay on the property. Your husband Daniel said it's his favorite resort.
He loves it there.
So.
Once we finish this video, I will go back in and leave the link so you guys can go down at the bottom and just click on that link to go to the website to register. What's the website again, Dennis?
It's just real simple. It's just Sedona Vedicastrology.com okay, I will have that link.
I'm going to go back in and put that link for everyone that just wants to click on it. Go there, register. Hey, and you know what, that weekend is, is right before Thanksgiving. So airline tickets should be inexpensive. So this is, you know, there's all sorts of deals Here you can make this happen and have the experience that you'll never forget. That's a promise for me because Dennis puts on the most incredible conferences and we have a big banquet where everyone gets to socialize on what, Saturday night. Right. Friday night, I do the world predictions. Saturday night we're going to have a great banquet, and it's so much fun. Great food, vegetarian buffet. It's incredible. Yeah, yeah.
Jeffrey Armstrong is going to do Vedic poetry. He's going to present some of his Vedic poetry. And then we have Jaya Lakshmi and Ananda Yogaji doing a brief concert on Saturday night at the banquet. Like for an hour, they're going to be performing and then they're doing a two hour concert. And for those of you that are into kirtan, they're one of the best kirtan groups in the world, and they're doing a two hour conference. And if you sign up for the conference, the special aspect you get too is you get to go to the concert for free. It's complimentary. As part. As part of the package. I have to say that the banquet is sold out. We've already sold out the banquet. The exhibit area is sold out. We have a huge exhibit area.
With Vedic software and Vedic gemstones and all kinds of different jewelry, all kinds of different gifts that you can buy for your early Christmas shopping. And it's just fantastic. I mean, I know it's. Again, like I said, I think it's just one of the best conferences we'll have ever had.
Yeah, I agree. It is just a coming together of everyone in our community. Pretty much people are what coming from all over the world. So I'm really excited to be there, Dennis, and I can't wait to see you. And it's always so fun to reunite with old friends and catch up. So this, this is going to be great. So any last words before I'm going to see if I can take any questions? I'm not.
I know there's like a delay, but I. Let me see if I can pull up where the question answers are.
Oh, wow. We have a lot of questions here. Yeah. Dennis, do you. Do you have access to read all the questions up here?
Let me see if I go on chat. Should that do it?
Yes, that'll do it. Okay.
So I'm getting my magnifying glass here.
I have to get my readers on myself. What happens when you hit your 60s?
Yeah, this happens.
You start to feel more like Saturn and you look more like Jupiter.
That's cute. I like that.
Okay, so.
I'm not seeing any questions. A lot of people are saying how they want to make this happen. Okay.
Okay, I'm not seeing anything. Let me see. Is there any. Oh, there's a lot of questions up here. Okay. Any questions?
Looks like someone's from France here. And.
Yeah, if you want to read them.
Sending you high vibrations. Love and peace. This is.
Pran Manic Astrology Channel. Pra. Thank you. Bonjour.
Marposa, and good morning. How exciting. My two teachers on one video. Thank you.
Okay, one person says they're not from America, and this is France here. And Trudy. Okay.
So I'm. Let's see. Okay, not seeing any real questions about anything. So just. Okay, wait.
Please tell us about functional malefic, specific, especially for Cancer Ascendant and how Venus may be a malefic. Do you want to answer that, Dennis?
Well, for Cancer Rising, one of the functional malefics is Saturn, where Saturn is a natural malefic. So sometimes I find with cancer rising because of Saturn ruling the seventh house, that sometimes early marriages are somewhat challenging unless Saturn is well aspected. So I find that. I don't know if you find that as well, Joni, for Leo as well, you know, with Saturn ruling. But one thing that I found, and I don't know if this rings true for you, Joni, is that when Venus is a functional malefic, I find because it's a natural benefic, it doesn't have the sting that sometimes, you know, a more challenging planet would have. If it's a functional malefic.
The great teacher, he has to always say, you know, common sense is allowed and that remember that a planet, if it's a natural benefic, it wants to do good. So that would be my answer, you know, just in a brief way to that question. I don't know, add something to that, Joni.
Well, you know, I'm like you. It's still a natural benefic. So it's definitely not going to have the sting. And. But you know what I've also noticed, not to change the subject, but when malefics rule the angles, they're not as harsh. And a lot of ascendants have, you know, the malefics ruling the angles. And, and maybe they're not from the same planetary camp, so they're not good for particular ascendant. But I find that like a lot of people that have, like Cancer Ascendant or Saturn rules the seventh house and it. Which is an angle, Saturn's not as bad, even though you would think it is because it's not friendly to buy house rulership. But I just thought I might bring that in because I've noticed that so many people that have Saturn, which is not, you know, friendly to the chart ruler of the eighth or ruler of the sixth and the seventh, you know, that it's. It's just it that even though it should have a harsh sting, it doesn't. So there's so many different rules. But yes, I find so many people that have Venus as a. As a functional malefic, as we call it, when it doesn't rule the good houses and it's not part of the same planetary camp. It's just not that bad. But yes, you know what? A lot of times, whatever planet rules the 11th House, for example, is always going to be a problem for that chart. And my students always can't comprehend that because planets in the 11th house are always, you know, very good. You know, they give gains and expansion. But whatever planet rules the 11th House is somehow never going to be, you know, part of that planetary camp or good for that chart. But I think my whole point is it deals with desire, and sometimes our desires may, you know, quench our thirst in some way, but it usually causes some kind of problem later. You know, it's like we can't get enough of it, and it causes suffering at some point. Does that make sense?
Yeah, because I know you've lectured on. And, you know, with the 11th house, it's six from the 6th and from the 12th. So I remember, I think it was Heart to Foe again, one of my. One of the greatest teachers, you know, and heart, he would say that quite often it dealt with disease issues. I think maybe Dr. Tarek as well talked about these aspects with the 11th house and the ruler of the 11th house, sometimes there can be issues.
Yeah. So hold on a second, Dennis. I just did. There we go. Okay, so, and another thing that I wanted to talk about a little bit about house rulerships in terms of whether or not it's a benefic or malefic for that ascendant, always remember that you have to. You have to assess it from Chandra Lagna, from the Moon being the Ascendant. So you might find that some of the planets that are, you know, functional malefics or functional benefits from the Ascendant may reverse from the Moon. So that will play out in terms of how it feels or looks when you do a chart assessment. And I know you know what I mean with that.
No, especially if the Moon is really strong. It's Going to play out sometimes as strong or stronger than the ascendant.
Yeah, exactly. And remember, they say in India, always assess the chart, the transits from the moon first. Now, I have a theory on this. I could be wrong, but I think the reason why they say that is because they didn't have birth times in India. What do you think?
No, I think so. And they didn't have nice computers to calculate the charts. Very fast was the easiest thing to track, you know?
Yeah. Yes. So let me look up here and see if there's any other questions.
Okay.
Okay. Could you enlighten us about debilitated Jupiter?
That's a good question. What I found with debilitated Jupiter is I like to point out some of the remedial measures for strengthening Jupiter. Of course, we have the gemstones, which is, you know, connected with yellow sapphires associated with Jupiter or citrine or golden topaz can be helpful to strengthen the debilitated Jupiter. I read also in one book, and it's interesting that they say with someone that has Jupiter and Capricorn that they should build a temple, build a spiritual temple.
Yeah, I could see that.
One way that you could do that is donate some money that helps to build a temple, you know, or create a temple in your home, Create a sacred altar in your home. It could be another way also to be really respectful to your teachers, respectful to gurus, and also be very selective about that because sometimes you can, with Jupiter and Capricorn, you can get false gurus or false teachers be discriminating, of course, which is a good thing anyway with any kind of choosing a spiritual teacher. I find sometimes with Jupiter and Capricorn, it can limit the number of children. It doesn't rule out having children because of course you have to look at the fifth house and from the moon as well as the ascendant and number of other factors. But Jupiter is a karaka, a significator of children. So sometimes it's really important to make sure that the family and the marriage is very stable before bringing a child in to be really kind of a little bit more vigilant. Like I use sometimes the motto that when in doubt, wait it out.
Slow in that particular domain. But traditionally, Jupiter is husband in a woman's chart. So there can be some challenges with, with early marriage because I find sometimes with Capricorn energy because of Saturn ruling it and Saturn maturing around the age of 35 to 36, sometimes things come together more. So there could be a delay of having children or delay around marriage, which can occur with Jupiter and Capricorn. But those are just some of the things off the. You know.
Yeah. And, you know, whenever I see a debilitated planet, whether it's. No matter what it is, I always check it out in the navamsha. Does it pick up strength in the navamsha? And many times I'll see a debilitated planet that will go to its exaltation sign and in the Navamshire chart. And I think that really tells you whether or not you're going to overcome whatever that debilitation is about. Because I feel like a debilitated planet is something we came here to work on. There's something we're here to overcome. And many times it becomes our asset later because it becomes something that we have really worked on and it becomes our PowerPoint in a chart. So I always, you know, look at where debilitations are and exaltations because it's such a focal point in any chart. And the other thing is, you know, debilitated planets are. I mean, this is. This is so powerful. I. You can see so many people with debilitated planets, such as Michael Jordan. What? Debilitated Mars. This is the best athlete ever. So it really does become sort of a focus in a chart. And may I say that Jupiter and Capricorn, you know, this is business. Capricorns all about the material world. So I feel like there's. There's this expenditure on being more successful sometimes in the material world when Jupiter's in Capricorn. But then I feel like there needs to be this balance of material and spirituality.
You know, I think the other thing with what I've learned with debilitated planets that K and Rao taught was that debilitated planets, the beauty of them is they teach humility. For example, Albert Einstein had moon in Scorpio, you know, and also Mercury in Pisces.
Yeah.
One of the greatest minds of our time. So, you know. But he was very humble.
Yeah.
Michael Jordan, as you mentioned, Mars in Cancer, he's very humble. That's what I loved about him. He's so confident, but humble. And he was asked once what made him such a great basketball player. And his answer was, it was the thousands and thousands of misses that made.
Him a big player.
I thought was a beautiful answer for Mars in Capricorn. As you mentioned, whatever your greatest challenge is in the chart can become your greatest strength if you overcome it.
I agree. Oh, that's so beautifully said. And it's. And it is a fact. So let Me see if I see. Dennis, do you see any. Do you see any questions that you want to answer here?
You know, let me just check on this question and answer no open questions. I don't see anything in the chat room, so.
Yeah, I'm not seeing anything, Joanie.
I'm not seeing anything. Okay, let me see.
I would want to just say this while you're looking, that some of the greatest teachings happen in the bar or in the lounge.
Sitting around, you know, with one of the teachers, you know, sharing knowledge, sharing wisdom that maybe didn't come out in the classroom. A lot of beautiful teachings and a lot of. You'll make a lot of new friends and beautiful friends that can be friends for life, as Joanie and I know.
Oh, my God. You know, when I first started going to astrology conferences, of course, this was before I knew about Vedic astrology. It was. Believe it. Believe it or not. My first conference, I'll never forget, was in New Orleans, 1980, and I think it was. Were you there, Dennis? I forgot what. It was one of the old western conferences. But I'll never forget, this was before computers, guys. We would sit there with the napkins in the restaurants and in the bars and draw out our charts on the napkins. And that was where I learned the most. When you could capture the teachers when they're not teaching, to really get to know them and get to know some of, you know, some of the answers you've always wanted, you know, through astrology. And so many bar napkins have charts on them back then.
So that's. That's a place where we can really meet new people. So don't be afraid to look. Look for us all over pretty much the hotel to better understand all of this. So what else were you thinking, Dennis?
Oh, I was just saying that sometimes, you know, when person's the sage on the stage, you know, you can teach a certain amount, but sometimes the great teachings happen when the teacher is the guide on the side.
Yeah, and that was probably my fondest memories of really getting to know people, what they're really about.
And Johnny said the teachers are really accessible to you, so. And they'll also. Most. A lot of the faculty will be bringing their books for sale, too. We don't have a book room this year, but most of the faculty, including Joni, of course, brings her numerous books. So you can purchase books while you're there at the conference, too, and get them signed.
Get them signed by the rock stars of Vedic astrology.
Yeah, yeah. So I'll have all My books there. But the newest book, Moon Mining Consciousness, is all about the yogas and everything that I'm going to be teaching about this weekend. And the moon is our emotional feelings, energy. And one thing I always like to point out, the moon is the past. And of course, everything relative to the fourth house deals with the moon as well. So I'm going to show you some amazing charts that are focused towards where the moon is, whether it's with Rahu or Ketu. That's huge because, you know, when I find the moon is with Rahu, you can see so many famous people and the moon with Ketu, so many mystics. But I'll share something personal about my family, which I think you're going to get a kick out of. I think you might know this, Dennis, but two of my sons have moon conjunct K2 in their fourth house. And when I first saw that, I freaked out. But my teacher said at the time, oh, don't worry, it means your mother's an astrologer. And my husband has K2 Jupiter in his seventh house. So, I mean, I'm this weirdo in my family's charts with K2 being there. And at first it was kind of, you know, scary, but then I realized what K2 really means. So, I mean, it's just so interesting to see that in your family's charts, looking at all your family members, how. How they perceive you, you know, so.
Mama K2.
Well, you know what? We are in Texas, growing up with my kids in school. This was the weird mom, right? The astrologer course. It's represented by K2.
You can relate. I know, Dennis. Having kids.
Okay, so here's a good question. What book is recommended to start learning Vedic Astrology? Well, you know what I'm going to say, don't you? My book?
Yeah. Eastern Astrology for Western Minds. It's actually the textbook that I use for my online university, so I think it's easy to comprehend. I originally wrote it as sort of like a bridge from Western astrology to Vedic astrology, since I had started with Western and switched over to Vedic. So I wanted it to be more palatable for the Western mind. That's why I named it Eastern Astrology for Western Minds. What other books do you recommend, Dennis?
Well, like you said, we cut our teeth on a lot of James Braha's books. Hindu Astrology for the Modern Western Astrologers. A wonderful book. I like Camilla Sutton's book, essentials of astrology. Dr. David Frawley's Astrology of the Seers Hart Defoe's book Light on Life with Robert Smith, one of the excellent books. And it's more beginners, but also intermediate level and in advance as well, covers all different levels. And I should say at our conference, there are beginning classes, intermediate classes and advanced classes. So there's again, something for everyone. And the last book that I recommend sometimes is William Levassy's book who just passed away about a year ago that we lost Bill. And he wrote a book called Vedic Astrology, Simply put, which I love the book because it's got pictures in it. It's like a little mini coffee table book. And as Alice said in Alice in Wonderland, what good is a book without pictures?
It's wonderful that it has the visuals for some of us that need that visual stimulation. So those are some of the books that I recommend.
Yeah. And you know, all these questions here are people wondering about things going on in their charts and probably family members charts. Realize, guys, when you're here at the conference, we'll be able to help you with this. And some of the astrologers, sometimes I do readings when I'm at conferences, so usually I'm open to that. But you know, all these great questions. Realize, guys, that you'll be able to ask us and we'll be able to help you while you're here at the conference. So, yeah, there's so many questions that people have about their, you know, their own lives. And, you know, so, so many people are saying, you know, that, well, they're happy. There's so many questions here. I'm, like, amazed. Thank you guys for coming on board and visiting with us this morning. So, you know, I forgot to mention.
Joni because of all my planets in Leo, of course, the best book on the Nakshatras is.
How could you forget that astrology? Sometimes I forget about myself every once in a while when I go into my moon, Jupiter and cancer in the 12th house, I like there sometimes, as Joni said, Chandra Lagna is so important.
So that, hey, that book is my go to book. You know, I have it, you know, always kind of close by where I can glance at, you know, a particular Nakshatra dentist. That book is wonderful. So you'll have a lot of copies at the conference, right?
If I remember to bring them.
Order them.
Yeah. Have your book there because that is a go to book. If you don't have Dennis's book, you got to get it. So anything else we need to say? Anything else, Dennis, you want to add, say, or comment on?
You know, there was a teacher from India named Karunamai who comes to Sedona occasionally. And she gave the name to Sedona Sidadona, the land of the Rishis. And she said that the red rocks here are Shakti and the white rocks are Shiva. So it represents a marriage, the sacred marriage of Shiva and Shakti here. So that's why I think part of the energy here is so powerful. I think it was the East Indians that came to Sedona and connected with the Native American Indian traditions as well. So it's really a place where east meets west.
Yes, yes, I agree. And I can't wait to get there. I'm going to be going on a little vacation before I come there. So I'm going to be relaxing and happy. I'm going to one of my favorite places in the world. By the way, this is something I'll share with you. Daniel's taking me for my birthday to one of my favorite places in the world. We leave in a day. We're going to where? Can you guess, Dennis?
Istanbul.
You got it.
You got it. I can't wait. So I'm going to see all my friends there. Any of you guys watching that are in Istanbul. I'm going to be there for a week and then I'm going to come back, regroup and get recharged to come to Sedona to see everybody. I absolutely cannot wait. So I think we're pretty good with the questions. Like I said, guys, keep all those questions on hand for us so that we can answer and answer any of your questions in person. And I look so forward to seeing you, Dennis, and meeting all new friends. So any closing words, Dennis?
I would just say if people want to reach me by email, probably the best way to reach me would just be dennisedenisharnas.com so if you have any questions about the conference specifically, you know, I can try to answer them as best I can. And then I think the website is really quite, quite, you know.
Oh, it's. It has everything.
I'll get the word out. Comprehensive. It's a very comprehensive.
Yes, it is. It has everything. If you're. If you're wondering about who's going to be there, what they're teaching, everything's there in detail. And even, you know, all about the hotel and all about Sedona, too. You actually have info about Sedona a little bit, right, Dennis?
Yes. And also there's bios on the teachers and their pictures as well as comprehensive, you know, really descriptions of the classes, the lectures, as well as the intensives, so you really can get a good idea of what you would be signing up for. And I should say on the weekend, you don't have to sign up for those. You can kind of come and go in those classes. But the intensives, you do need to sign up in advance for.
Okay, thanks for saying that. So when we, when we leave, I'm going to go into Down Below, guys. I'll have a link to the conference, plus I'll have Dennis Harness's email. So, hey, you can get in touch with us and I think you guys know how to get in touch with me. So with that, I think we'll close. Any closing words?
I just really thank you for all your love and support and friendship over the decades that we've known each other and also want to give a shout out to Daniel, your wonderful husband, and your boys. I've had a great time coming to visit you in Dallas as well, so appreciate your divine friendship.
Thank you. You are a divine friend to me, Dennis, and we will have more fun times in Sedona and Dallas in the future. So thank you for putting on this beautiful conference, Dennis. I'm looking so forward to it. We're going to have a blast. Thank you.
