Hi, I'm Joni Petrie and welcome to my YouTube channel. Today I'd like to have a series of lessons that really teaches you the foundations of all astrology, but particularly with Vedic astrology. And that is the houses called the bhavas. And bhavas literally means place of action. So this is where our lives unfold. And when you understand the houses of a chart, you really understand the foundation of astrology because it is our lives. It is the sort of like the stage of our life. So I'd like to talk with, talk about the ascendant, which sets up the chart. This is the first house relative to what time a chart is calculated. The time of birth sets up all of the houses in a horoscope. So that's why the time is so important and the accurate time to be able to have the right sign on the ascendant. So talking about each house, I want you to get a feel of how each house is uniquely different, how it is actually an evolvement of us through our life. Because the first house is going to be our birth into this world. It's the beginning. And it deals with the physical constitution. It is you. And the first house is probably the most important house relative to your health, to your well being and your beginnings. But what happens in the involvement of a human being once they are in their childhood times, this will be the second house. The second house will reflect our childhood, our family, what's happening in our life as we grow. And so the second house deals also with our sense of self worth, our value. The house of money was what most people realize the second house is all about. But there's many other things that depict it. It deals with. If you talk about the first house as the head, as we're born into this world, head first, then comes the second house, which deals with the face, the mouth and the throat. It actually deals with our eyesight, it deals with our voice, and it also deals with early childhood, our values. And this is everything to do with our beginnings, which makes our foundation in this life. So as we progress on to the third house, what comes into our awareness is our brothers and sisters. Third house deals with siblings, but it's also about our life force, our energy, we, our courage, our desire. Plus it also rules the hands and the lungs. But it also can deal with how we create things with our hands. It's creativity.
How we express ourselves, our communications. This is all about the third house, the fourth house. Moving on, we'll deal with our home, our environment, our sense of security. This Is this is what the fourth house is all about. And everything that gives us our security, our mother, our home, our real estate, our property. It can deal with fixed assets, anything to do with things that we own, whether it's cars, houses. It deals with this foundation that gives a sense of security. Moving on to the fifth house. The fifth house is what is our self expression and our creations. Therefore, the things that we create that outlive us deals with the fifth house. The fifth house is our children, but it's also our expression. It can deal with art, what we create, what can outlive us, sculpture, paintings, children, all these things that we put out into the world as ourselves and our creations and our artistic pursuits. Fifth House is also the house of the mind and intelligence and can depict high intelligence. It deals with advisory positions, people who give advice, advice to the kings. It's actually the house of astrology because it is those that give advice. But it is also the house of Puva Punya, which means good past life credit that is due to us in this lifetime. That's the fifth house. Moving on to the sixth house. The sixth house is an area of our work, our. Our daily activities as we go to work, co workers, employees, experiences on a daily level. And particularly deals with our health, health and healing. It can deal with counseling, mental health, physical health, spiritual health, and it is the house of service. So it can deal with areas where we help people or professions that deal with doctors, healers, restaurants, places of where you serve. The seventh house is the opposite from the first house. So it is us, but reflected through our partnerships. It is any partnership that has a contractual agreement. So therefore it can be business partnerships, it can be marriage partnerships. This is the seventh house.
The eighth house is the house of major change and transition. And it deals with the things that we never want to talk about in a social context, which is ways that we control other people, which can be through money, through sex, and through death. Those are the three taboos. Because this is what the eighth house rules. It deals particularly many times with the dark side of life, manipulation and control. How do you control others? And the reason why I say death is many religions can control others through the fear of what happens when you die. But this is the eighth house. The eighth house can deal with other worlds. It can deal with psychics and places beyond this world. And it is definitely things we can't understand from this world. So the eighth house is beyond. And it deals with metaphysics and it deals with ways that we transform or change, which death is one of Those ninth house is our spirituality, it is our truth. It is going beyond to the next level of spirituality. It deals with laws, but ultimately spiritual law instead of man made law. But it can deal with lawyers in the legal profession. It deals with travel, deals with long distance travel, deals with higher education. And as you reflect back to the third house, which deals with communications, opposite from the ninth. The third can deal with lower education and learning, but the ninth house deals with higher education and learning. The third house can deal with travel, travel, but more short distances. The ninth house deals with travel, long distances. The tenth house, tenth house is our career, it's our social standing, how we appear to the world. Whereas when we're out in the world, reflected in our career and our job. But this is more about career, not necessarily just a job per se. This is what we aspire to, this is our ambition. The 10th House, it is our profession, whereas we're out in the public with the 10th. If you go opposite to the 4th, that's our private lives, not our public lives. It's where we are at home, away from the world. But the 10th house is where we're in front of the world. Therefore, it represents our social standing and our reputation. The 11th House deals specifically with friends, groups and organizations. It can deal more specifically with the oldest sibling and. And the third house, as I said, represents brothers and sisters, all of them, but more specifically the youngest one. But the 11th house is the oldest one. But overall it deals with friends, humanity, groups, organizations. And the other aspect of the 11th House is great gains. It's money that comes to you in one big, large lump sum. Whereas the second house can deal more with money that you earn from paycheck to paycheck. And the 11th house can deal with large money.
But talking about money, I failed to mention that the eighth house, which deals with death, which deals with transformation, that can deal with money we share with other people, and it definitely deals with inheritance. Because remember, the eighth house is relative to death. So it's money we get through inheritance. Whereas the second house is the money we earn. The eighth house, opposite to the second, deals with money that we share with others, whether it comes through marriage, whether it comes through inheritance. But it is another house that deals with finances, like the 11th House deals with large sums of money that come all at once.
Last but not least, the 12th house is the house of endings. And it deals with the end of life, it deals with retirement, it deals with many ways that we escape this world. Because the twelfth house deals with hospitals, it deals with sleep, it deals with ashrams, it deals with outer space, deals with foreign countries. All of these are like an escape of getting away from your present environment, in other words. So the 12th house is the house of endings. It's the time that you wrap up and finish things up. But it can definitely deal with foreign travel and far away places. A lot of times it can deal with astronauts, because this is beyond this world. The twelfth house deals with endings and it deals with closure. And I call it the House of forgiveness. Because at the point when you've gone through the process of the first house of being born and you evolve all the way through the 12th house of letting go and the end of life, you're ready to forgive and let go of any grievances, resentments that you've had in this world. So the 12th house is the house of Moksha. It is our final liberation. It is our unity and oneness with the divine, the ultimate ending of a lifetime in the pattern and the whole cycle of life through the entire 12 houses of the zodiac. With that, I hope you've gained better insight as to what the houses and the process from one to the other involves in a lifetime and a better understanding of astrology.
