Vedic Astrology Is True to the Stars!

YouTube talk by Joni Patry explaining why Vedic (sidereal) astrology is "true to the stars." She contrasts Vedic/sidereal astrology with Western/tropical astrology, arguing sidereal placements match the actual fixed stars and therefore yield more precise, predictive readings—especially via house rulers, divisional charts (e.g., D9/Navamsha), Nakshatras, and notable fixed stars (Regulus, Antares, Aldebaran).

Hi, I'm Joni Petrie, and welcome to my YouTube channel. Well, today I want to talk about Vedic astrology. In particular, how I know it is true to the stars. That's my saying about Vedic astrology. Why? Because it is based on the movement of the stars. That is why we have a different position of our starting of the zodiac instead of where western tropical astrology is. Let me explain. Western tropical astrology is based primarily on the sun, which creates the seasons, whereas Vedic astrology is based primarily on the stars. Because of the stars, they've been moving over. Over. Well, they're always moving, but they move so slow that they're actually called fixed stars. But this movement takes 26,000 years for it to go through all 12 signs of the zodiac. And at this point in time, the zodiac from the tropical western, the sidereal zodiac has fallen backwards almost 24 degrees. Now. The. This is truly where everything is, because the stars are what constitute pretty much the constellations, where the signs are in the heavens. So the stars, they have to be.
Since they're moving, they move and they bring with them, of course, the constellations and. And the signs. So here's why I say it's true to the stars. I love this. And remember this. I did western astrology for 20 years, and I've been doing Vedic for a little over 20 years. I feel like I can talk about this in terms of what works from Western. What works for Vedic? Vedic uses the sidereal system. What does sidereal translate to? Star. So it's the movement of the stars. And when you're looking at the planets in the sky, where they are relative to what signs they're in, it's sidereal. That is astronomically correct. If you take your phone to look at where the planets are in the heavens, it's going to give you the sidereal placements which are the true placements. But here's my issue. Why I know that Vedic astrology is more predictive. And I have many reasons why I've chosen. I used to do Western astrology and Vedic together. I would bring my tropical western chart out and my Vedic chart together when I would do readings. But I found that over time, the Vedic was just a clearer system because when you're looking at aspects or transits of the planets, they're going to hit the planets in your birth chart, regardless if you're doing tropical or sidereal. Because when you look at where the planets are in the heavens, they've fallen back 23, 24 degrees, but so have the planets in your birth chart. So you, you will have the transits hitting the same aspects. And that's one of the main reasons why Western astrology will be correct. But the house rulers of the sidereal chart, trust me, are more accurate. And I know this is a problem. There's a big conversation about whether you know which is the right zodiac to use.
Well, let me just say this for the Western astrologers that say Vedic doesn't work. They've never studied it, not to the extent that I have. So if someone has studied something, then they can voice their opinion on it. And furthermore, for those of you that are just basing things on your sun sign, that is.
That'S not real astrology. When you understand the mathematical calculations of everything in the divisional charts, such as the D9 and the Navamsha and all of the divisions, you will start to understand that Vedic astrology is mathematically true.
And the true placements. So moving on with that, Moving on with that. Yes, you're going to get results with Western astrology, don't get me wrong here. But if you want to really.
If you are truly into astrology, you are going to want to look at the Vedic chart, truly want to learn everything there is about astrology. And I find so many people.
They'Re just, they don't want to learn anything new. I wanted to really learn astrology. So I took it upon myself to learn all the different systems and techniques and then make a decision as to which one I'm going to be using. By the way, for those of you that are truly interested in learning Vedic astrology, I'm starting my new semester one class, January 25th. Check it out. You're going to learn true Vedic astrology, how to really read a chart. But continuing on with this, why I say it's true to the stars is this specific, powerful reason. Because when we're talking about, well, when we start getting into the Nakshatras, in Vedic astrology, the Nakshatras are simply where you take the zodiac of 360 degrees and you divide it up into smaller portions. And these portions, it's very mathematical. And this is the beauty of why it is so much more precise. Because then you're looking at the nakshatras, which are 13 degrees, 20 minutes divisions of the zodiac that divides up the whole 360 degree circle. And you're going to have 27 of these portions. So the stars that are in these portions of the zodiac are what give the Nakshatras their true essence and meaning. But here Is once again my point is you keep the stars moving, then they stay, the fixed stars stay in the signs that they give the meanings to. For example, the four royal stars. These stars were used in navigation and they are the brightest intensity and they have deep core meanings. All the stars. But for example, when you talk about the star Regulus. Regulus is sidereally it's around 5, 6 degrees of LEO.
And it represents everything that Leo's about. It's about rulers, kings, presidents, everything that Leo is and even the loyalty. Because Regulus is said to be and it is the heart of the lion. How can you say that Regulus, heart of the lion, everything to do with Leo is in Virgo. That's what tropical western astrologers think. But they will never change out of their signs that they represent and give meaning to in the sidereal zodiac. So it's true to the stars. So Regulus is in Leo. And another thing about the heart of the lion, it means loyalty and of the heart, someone that has the warmth and the open heartedness. Yes, this is part of what Leo's about. Yes, they can be self serving and self centered at times, but they are the warmth of the heart. This is the Leo sign and that's where Regulus is. Let's talk about Scorpio. How about Antares, the star of war and conflict and deep things. Very scorpionic in representation and meaning. And it sits in the heart of the scorpion.
But tropical astrologers think it's in Sagittarius. No, everything to do with Antares is what Scorpio is all about. Even exactly opposite Antares. We look at the fixed star Aldebaran.
And Aldebaran understand this. It is the eye of the bull.
And we have it around 15, 16 degrees of Taurus, exactly opposite Antares in Scorpio. How can the eye of the bull not be in Taurus? It can't be. It's in Taurus, that's it. But tropical astrologers, they think it's changed signs. So here's another thing that's fascinating. Rohini is the Nakshatra where we have the star Aldebaran. And Aldebaran is said to be a red star.
It's called the red one. It's the eye of the bull and it's red.
Did you know that Rohini is called the red one? This is how they all tie up and they stay together. And in Aquarius we have Famulot.
Every meaning with that has everything to do with Aquarius and Aquarian nature. As A matter of fact, the stars in Aquarius, this is so interesting are they look like a cloud. You can't really see the stars, it's just a cloud. But opposite that is where we have Regulus in Leo and that's the heart of the lion and it's the one. And the Leo energy is about kingship, leadership, oneness, whereas Aquarius is humanity.
And those stars, those groupings of stars remain in Aquarius because they all move. The stars, constellation, they stay together in their movement. They do not separate into different signs. So I just wanted to bring out a fascinating fact about.
How Vedic astrology.
Because a procession, it's never going to change that these stars will remain true to their signs and give the signs and Nakshatras, they're deep, rich, profound meanings of the zodiac. There's so much more to it, but I just thought I'd give you a little touch, a little interest. There's so much more I could discuss with you about how beautiful and fascinating and important it is that you study Vedic astrology. If you are truly dedicated to, to learning about the heavens, the skies and astrology, you'll put this on the forefront to learn because it will change how you see things. It did for me. So with that I'll close.
