What Is the Best Day to Plan Events in Astrology?

Joni Patry explains how to choose the best days for events using Vedic astrology, emphasizing the moon’s phases, its daily motion through the 27 Nakshatras, and its relationships (aspects/conjunctions) with other planets. She argues that waxing (new→full) vs waning lunar phases, the moon’s Nakshatra/sign, and its conjunctions with benefics (Venus, Jupiter) or malefics (Saturn, Mars, Rahu/Ketu) materially affect outcomes, and gives an example choosing January 27 for beginning university classes because Jupiter is in cazimi with the Sun that day.

Hi, I'm Joni Petrie and welcome to my YouTube channel. Well, today I want to talk about choosing the best day for certain events to actually use astrology to your advantage. What is it used for? There's definitely better days to do things than others. And with this knowledge, you'll make your life a hundred percent better. Because knowing this gives great advantage and opportunities. So choosing the best day. Well, you know, I have to go to one of my books, that Moon Mind and Consciousness. I wrote this book, Everything to do about the moon. Because it's the phases of the moon that can really give you advantage. If you know the moon is increasing in light, decreasing in light, increasing, you start new projects, decreasing in light, you end up old projects. It's like being in accordance to the divine, operating with the flow, not going against it. So that's basically one of the great things about astrology. So in this book, Moon Mind and Consciousness talks about people, famous people that have planets conjunct the moon, what that would bring in their life, in their personal life. And also about how the natal moon in your Vedic chart actually begins the entire cycles of your life. That's how important the moon is in Vedic astrology. Because wherever your moon is, what Nakshatra, it's in the planet that rules. That Nakshatra starts your whole life cycle. So it really does dictate when things happen throughout your entire life, when the best periods you'll go into the best cycles of all based on your natal moon. So wouldn't it be very important to be looking at where the moon is when you plan strategic and important events, such as when you get married, such as when you start a business.
Such as even any beginnings of any kind. Because really it's your birth time when you came into the world that started your whole life. So you see, everything has a beginning, everything has a chart. And what you're actually doing is picking the chart for whatever event. Even if you're having a social event or a party, you want to pick the best day for it. It's fantastic and it works. So in my book, Moon Mining Consciousness in the back, the last chapter, I actually have about choosing the best day and everything to do about the moon, such as what Nakshatra the moon's in on that day? The moon is in a different Nakshatra every day.
That's why the Nakshatras are called the lunar mansions, because every day the moon changes into a new Nakshatra. The rate of motion of the moon is 13 degrees, 20 minutes per day. And that is the portion of a Nakshatra. So it goes to reason you want to choose a good Nakshatra for an event. There's 27 of them. It goes to reason that you want to find the best day based on where the moon is. And what I mean by that. Where is it relative to all the other planets? You don't want the moon conjunct Saturn or Mars or Rahu or Ketu. Those are malefics and they screw up the sense of our peace of mind on that day. So you avoid those days. But how nice it is to choose a day when the moon is conjunct Venus, which is love, harmony and beauty. Or you have the moon conjunct Jupiter, which is expansion and opportunities and wealth. It's that simple to choose days where the moon is in good relationship to the other planets. We call these aspects and that's what I look for. And there's other long range events that you're going to want to look for. Where's Jupiter, Where's Saturn? But the thing that moves the fastest in a chart is the moon. So that's the thing that changes from day in to day out. And that's what I look for for when I'm planning events for certain things. The full moon brings things to fruition. A bright moon means awareness, consciousness. A new moon means a new beginning. But it's a little dark. You can't see outside. Just imagine it's like a seed that's been planted underneath the ground. It's still dark till it rises above the ground. And then you have the growth of the moon as it grows in light. So many times they say don't put your house on the market when you've got a moon that's right before the new moon because it's ending a cycle. You're going to want to choose a day when the moon is growing in light after the new moon. So between the new moon to the full moon, the moon is growing in light. We call that a waxing moon. And then when a waning moon means it's losing its light, it's getting smaller to the darkness. And then it returns back to the new moon. So this is the whole lunar cycle. So it goes to reason. Check out what sign the moon's in as well. Because that sign can really dictate the feelings of everyone around you. So you don't want to have a party when the moon is in a difficult Nakshatra, a difficult sign. And conjunct malefics. Half the people wouldn't get there. Or something would happen, the food would be late, people are in bad moods. But you can change everything by choosing the correct day by the moon being with benefics in a good Nakshatra.
As well as if it's increasing or decreasing in light. And let me just give you one example of something really big. I always plan the days that I begin my university's first semester classes. I mean, I go to a lot of trouble to make sure it's a good day astrologically. And I want it to be a good day for what? Jupiter. Because it's learning, education, higher learning, knowledge, spirituality. So I find it so interesting that I chose the day. I always like to start in January. January is the beginning of the year. Chose the day for my university to begin, January 27th. Why? Because Jupiter, Jupiter first of all, you know, for almost a year, is in a particular sign. So when it's in a bad sign, such as Jupiter being in Capricorn, it's weak, it's debilitated. Does that mean not do anything for the year? No, you got to find some certain. It's almost like exceptions to the rule, if you want to say, or loopholes. And what I found was Jupiter being next to the sun, which is going to be the whole month of January, practically, because the sun's in Capricorn and so is Jupiter, and so Saturn. Saturn actually mitigates the negativity of the debilitated Jupiter. But Jupiter being close to the sun the whole month, I had to find a day that had a loophole. And I did, because there's something in astrology called cassimi.
And cassimi is when a planet is the same degree as the sun. So it's usually one day because remember, the sun moves one degree per day. So there's one day that the planet is one with the sun.
And it means that that planet becomes one with the sun and it emits. The sun emits its rays of energy of that planet. That is exactly conjunct it. On January 27, Jupiter is Cassimi, the Sun. The sun and Jupiter are the same degree. Otherwise, if it's less than a degree away.
Or I mean, if it's less than a degree, it's cassimi. But if it's like 2 degrees or whatever, more than a degree, it's combust. Meaning Jupiter is burnt and weak. And Jupiter's the planet I want strong for the class because it deals with knowledge, wisdom, learning, spirituality. So January 27, the start date for the first semester of the University of Vedic Astrology. So by the way, while I'm on that subject, if you would like to learn Vedic astrology, check out my university website. It is phenomenal way to learn.
