Jordan Raynor announces that his podcast will be renamed from The Call to Mastery to the Mere Christians Podcast effective June 15, 2022. He gives two reasons for the rebrand: guests are uncomfortable with the term "mastery," and listener survey results showed 70% prefer conversations about how guests' faith influences their work (95% said they'd listen to more if the show focused on those conversations). He explains what will change (dropping mastery/daily-routine questions) and what will remain the same (format, three closing questions, intro music, logo style, podcast subscription). He invites listener nominations for guests via jordanraynor.com and notes the relaunch will be episode 151 on June 15.

Hey, everyone. I am super excited to share some big news for the podcast. On June 15, 2022, the call to Mastery is getting a brand new name. Now, before I share what that new brand is, let me tell you why my team and I have decided to make this move. Really? Two reasons. Number one, a lot of our guests are frankly uncomfortable calling themselves masters or even on the path to master. We talk a lot about this on the podcast. One of the keys to mastery is humility, and the brand has at times caused people to decline our invitations to come onto the show. That's reason number one. Reason number two, your favorite part of each episode is not when our guests talk about how they've mastered their crafts. We sent a survey out about six months ago to those of you who are on my launch team and we just asked you point blank, what's your favorite part of the Call to Mastery? Number one, when our guests talk about how they've mastered their craft. Number two, when they talk about their daily habits. Or number three, the conversations we have about how the gospel shapes the work of our guests. And an overwhelming number of you, 70%, said your favorite part of the show was our guests talking about how their faith influenced their work. And then I asked, if we focus the show only on those conversations, would you listen to more or less episodes? 95% of you said more. So all of that is why, beginning June 15, the call to Mastery will be renamed the Mere Christians Podcast. Obviously a play and a nod to CS Lewis's great work, Mere Christianity. But the idea is, the part of this podcast you all love most is unpacking how the Gospel influences the work of mere Christians. Not religious professionals like pastors or quote unquote, full time missionaries, but those of us who work as entrepreneurs and baristas and carpenters and accountants and parents. So that's what the show is going to get laser focused on. Even more focused on starting June 15th. So what exactly is changing? Basically, all we're doing is dropping the mastery and daily routine questions from our conversations. That's it. You're going to hear the exact same faith and work conversations we've been having for 150 episodes. You're going to hear the exact same three questions at the end of every episode that I know you guys love. You're going to hear the exact same intro music. You're going to see the exact same logo, just with Mere Christians replacing the Call to Mastery in that bright teal rectangle right there. You're even going to have the exact same podcast subscription you don't have to go subscribe to a new podcast. You. You'll just go to listen to episode 151 on June 15th and you're going to hear me introduce the Mere Christians Podcast instead of the Call to Mastery. So most everything is staying the same. But I'm confident that what is changing, the few things that are changing are going to make this show an even greater resource to help you do your most exceptional work for the glory of God and the good of others. Hey, one last thing. If you would like to nominate somebody to come onto the podcast to talk about how the gospel influences their work, I want to hear from you. Even if you're nominating yourself, this is your chance to shamelessly promote yourself and put yourself forward as a guest for the Mere Christians Podcast. Just go to jordanraynor.com contact find the dropdown option of recommending to guest for the Mere Christians Podcast. Fill it out. Hey, that's it, guys. I'm so grateful for you all. Many of you have been here since day one of this show almost three years ago. 150 episodes in man. I'm so confident that the next 150 episodes, Lord willing, are going to be even better and even greater encouragement to all, all of you mere Christians who are out there advancing the kingdom through your work. I'll see you June 15th.
