Joy Kong, MD explains how raising core body temperature can help autoimmune conditions like fibromyalgia and Lyme disease. Unlike hot baths, which cause blood vessels to shut down, vacuum-assisted heating keeps vessels open and reduces blood viscosity to trigger healing.

You mentioned raising the temperature, reducing the blood viscosity. A lot of people with autoimmune issues have low body core temperature, so fibromyalgia, Lymes, all sorts of things that occur chronically. Once you can raise your body to normothermia, it will kick in and it will start healing itself. Your body wants to heal itself. We just kind of give it a jump start, raising you to about a little bit above normothermia and to get things moving and doing what they should be doing. So if that's the case, what if you just take a hot bath every day? I was hoping you were going to ask me that question. Well, your body is so smart that it will vasoconstrict. It will shut down in less than a minute because it doesn't like heat and it doesn't like extreme cold. And that's why the vacuum is really important, because we force that open where your body wants to shut it down, and we're like, nope, you got to stay open.
