Short interview-style transcript in which Speaker A recounts recurring tonsillitis during early teens (around ages 12–16), repeated antibiotic prescriptions, and a recommendation for tonsillectomy. Wanting to avoid surgery, Speaker A describes adopting dietary changes, herbal teas, nutrients, and yoga/movement and reports that these combined self-care measures stopped the recurrent tonsillitis.
Did you have any health problems yourself?
Recurring tonsillitis? My mother would take me to the pediatrician again and again. This is when I was around 12, 13, 14. They would just prescribe me antibiotics again and again and again, just multiple times throughout the year.
That's all the tools they had.
That and then surgery. Right. So that was the next suggestion, is to get my tonsils removed. And as a kid, for me, even though that's a relatively benign procedure, it just kind of freaked me out. And. Which led me to, is there anything that else that I could do?
And so you were trying to avoid surgery?
I was trying to avoid surgery, which I'm sure, actually a lot of people, that's their motivation, is wanting to avoid going under the knife, even if it's just a smaller procedure like that. So I just started looking into how can I troubleshoot my own body, how can I heal my own self? And I was doing herbal teas and other kinds of nutrients, and I changed my diet, and I was doing different kinds of movements and yoga poses and combined all those things, and I just. I healed myself, and I just stopped getting recurrent tonsillitis.
