If we want to answer the question of how soon we can see results, we have to talk about how do the cells work? Knowing how the cells work, then we can gauge which kind of benefits you may be able to notice in a short or long term basis. So the cells actually have a multitude of effects. Of course, we're talking about one particular kind of cell, which is mesenchymal stem cells. But there are also all these other types of stem cells, such as hematopoietic progenitor cells, and these are most commonly in bone marrow, but also in umbilical cord blood. Hi, welcome Back to the Dr. Joy Kong podcast. As you know, I'm passionate about stem cell therapy, and there are so many questions that people are asking about stem cells. There's just a lot of nuances. So I'm going to chip away at them one by one. One common question is how soon can I see results when I do stem cells? So that question can only be answered. One is by what kind of conditions you have, and then also what kind of cells are you getting and what are the treatment. But generally, when you look at how soon a therapy can exert its benefit, then you have to look at how chronic is this condition, how acute the condition happens. So if something happened very quickly, let's say a acute injury or even infection, then when things happen quickly, they tend to heal more quickly. But when something is very chronic, that means there's a long term buildup of inflammation, tissue damage, and then the repair tend to take longer. So that's kind of in general. But of course, different conditions are different when it comes to neurological conditions that usually take takes longer because the brain, the neurons, those grow and repair at a much slower speed. So it's going to take longer to notice a benefit. But if we want to answer the question of how soon we can see results, we have to talk about how do the cells work. Knowing how the cells work, then we can gauge which kind of benefits you may be able to notice in a short or long term basis. So the cells actually have multitude of effects. Of course, we're talking about maybe one particular kind of cell, which is mesenchymal stem cells. But there are also all these other types of stem cells, such as hematopoietic progenitor cells. And these are most commonly in bone marrow, but also in umbilical cord blood. So these are progenitor cells, so precursor or early ancestor cells to the bloodlines. So red blood cells, white blood cells, all the blood cells come from the hematopoietic Progenitor cells. And then there are also other progenitor cells. And there are immune, primitive immune cells that are stem cells, they're called mononuclear cells, that were also in the bone marrow and the umbilical cord blood. But when it comes to mesenchymal stem cell, which you probably have heard a lot, and it's the most popular type, these cells actually are prevalent in fat, believe it or not, and also in umbilical cord tissue. So not the cord blood, but the tissue. So now if we're talking about mesenchymal stem cells, so again, there are all these nuances. So if we're only talking about mesenchymal stem cell, which is kind of the gold standard these days, just because we understand it so much, and these are easy cells to handle because you can replicate them, grow them to large numbers, doesn't mean growing them to large numbers make them better. Because I have videos specifically talking about cell expansion. But let's just say we're talking about mesenchymal stem cells. So these cells actually produce their effect one by calming the inflammation. So drastically reducing inflammation. And that, of course, can propel repair. Because if you're stuck in inflammation you're not going to be able to repair, then you are inflamed, right? Red, swollen, painful. That's the sign of inflammation. So you may be stuck in that stage. Let's say you're osteoarthritis, right? You inflamed knee or other joints or tendon injuries or even autoimmune conditions, you're stuck in the inflamed stage. Or actually most chronic conditions, such as heart disease, right lung conditions, all these are stuck in the inflammatory condition. So if the stem cells can come in and calm the inflammation drastically and quickly, that you can notice results very quickly, which is the case that I have seen in the clinic because we've seen patients noticing benefits sometimes within 20 minutes of the stem cell treatment, which is pretty exciting, such as one patient with rheumatoid arthritis, she had not been able to close her fist for a few months. This is surgical technician. And she was about to lose her job. In the middle of the infusion, which was only about 15, 20 minutes into the session, she made a fist and she started crying. And it was a beautiful moment because she is seeing the hope. She realized, I think I'm. This is. This is something that is going to make a real difference. So it can happen very fast. I've had somebody with autoimmune issues. No one could figure out what, what was going on? Severe pain. By the time the infusion was finished, she said her pain was 50% gone. And that night she went home, she slept, and the next morning she said her pain was 90% gone. So that's pretty fast, right? That's minutes to hours, maybe to days. So anti inflammatory effects can be very fast. Why? Because these are signals. You are calming the signals and of course you are immediately changing the way the cells communicate and the way they talk to each other. The immune system comes on board, they are basically calming, you know, damping the fire. So now the swelling, the inflammation, the pain is going to go down like this other. Actually the very first person I talked about who experienced stem cell therapy herself, she had rheumatoid arthritis. And she said during her infusion her swelling was going down in her fingers. And then she went home. She was able to put on a ring that was given to her by her, her mother that she was not able to wear for a couple years. So that, that was wonderful. Right. So these are the more immediate type of effects. So that's the first stage, what I call the initial stage of healing. Because these are fast, they're a result of rapid signaling. If you look at the fact that all chronic diseases have inflammation as a basis, then you can see how this action can be really powerful. As we move on. How fast can I see results? You may see results very fast. But if your problem is not these acute inflammation, Actually let me give you an example of another condition, which is a brain condition, somebody with Alzheimer's and she was not able to pick up knife and fork to feed herself for a month. And after the stem cell treatment, the next morning she picked up knife and fork and started feeding herself. Why? What I believe is that the cute or the chronic inflammation in the brain all of a sudden was calmed down so that the information highway can flow and the signals from one neuron to another, all of a sudden the pathway is cleared, then you are able to get the information right if you have a thought. And that needs to be translated into motion. And that's a complex process. All of all of a sudden the inflammation is down and that pathway is through and then you can pick up knife and fork and actually put this into action. So that's another example of rapid fast response. And next stage will be the more of a tissue rebuilding. So that's going to take longer. That's not the immediate result. Immediate result can happen very fast, but doesn't happen to everybody. Some people don't notice anything. Does that mean it's not happening, Something good is not happening? No, it means that things may be happening at a level that you cannot notice. Just like when you're getting sick for about a week before you get those cold symptoms, you were actually in the process of getting sick, but you just couldn't tell. The same thing with therapy, looking at its benefits. So just because you can't tell doesn't mean that it's not happening right under your nose. So that second stage is the tissue rebuilding. And that, of course, takes time. Days, weeks, months. So Rome is not built in the day. Then we need to first of all, break down the scar tissue, take away, drag away the bat cells, right? Digest them. You know, macrophages comes along and taking pieces, taking the cells away. And now you're freeing up the space. Then you have to signal the local stem cells. You want to mobilize the immune system to take away what's not working and then signal the local stem cells to come on, make more of yourself, make more cells that actually can do the work effectively. Now you're making new tissue, and that's going to take time. Of course, the nervous system is going to take the most amount of time, months, you know, three, six, nine months, not uncommon to notice this full result. But tendons, joints, and some other organs can be much faster. But still it's going to take probably weeks to months. The time frame that the rebuilding stage. And that is a reason why sometimes we don't see patients showing effect until months later. Now they say, oh, okay, now I'm noticing a benefit. And that's dependent on at what stage we're looking at. If the acute inflammation is not so drastic that you're having all these symptoms, and then you're not going to notice this acute response, acute relief, right? So if it's the chronic tissue damage and the cells are sitting there not doing their job, not only not doing their job, but also causing damage. And that's going to take time to get rid of those cells and then build fresh, young, healthy cells. And then you will notice the benefit when your cells and tissue are actually replaced by the healthier ones. And the last stage of the repair is what we call genetic modification. Sounds a little scary, but what happens is that when the cells secrete all these growth factors and other signals, one of the mechanism is that they sent out these exosomes. Exosome has become a big word. These are really just secretion products. These are what the cells utilize to exert benefits. So these exosomes actually contain Tiny microrna pieces, so little pieces of RNA that contains genetic information. But what they can do is that they can go inside your cell and actually go inside your cell nucleus. So there's another membrane that's inside the cell membrane, inside the nucleus that interact with your DNA, so it can repair and rejuvenate your DNA. And that kind of effect will be much longer lasting because it's actually repairing the blueprint, right? So then if you repair the blueprint, then you can have a better, healthier reaction and tissue for a very long time because you're using healthier blueprint to make the tissue. So that benefit can last months to years. And that's why even though on, you know, in theory we say, well, if you get stem cell treatment, maybe you need a booster in a year, two years, but some people don't need a booster for six, seven, 10 years. Why? Well, first of all, the DNA may be repaired to a certain degree. But second of all also depends on how you are treating your body. And are you addressing all the causes. The more causes you addressed, the more you're able to stop what's causing your problems in the first place, right? If your body was toxic, all your cells are dragging and not functioning optimally. And when you remove the toxins all of a sudden and after you're repaired, then these repair can sustain. But if you keep eating bad food, you keep on smoking, and you keep putting all these toxic stuff all over your body, your face or in your household products, then you're going to continue to be exposed to these toxins or even emf, right? You put your cell phone really close to your head, close to your body, that's going to cause some damage. So there are a lot of things that could affect your body's health, your cellular health. And if you don't clean those up, then those may be the underlying causes for the disease and then you're going to be in a disease state again. So you want to address as many causes as possible, then you may not need another booster for 3, 5, 10, 20 years, right? Then you are really in a great state of health. However, as we all know that nobody comes out of this game alive, so we're all going to leave this earth. Although there are people who want to stay immortal, that's a whole other subject. But in general, nobody comes out alive, so everybody will go down a road of decline. However, we can slow the decline process to the point where you can stay at a pretty healthy state until you, you drop, you run out of resources, so that's the way a lot of people I work with want to go right we just want to sustain, sustain, sustain and then we leave earth. So the analogy is a candle right We've all seen those long stick of candles you light it up it's burning very bright. It burns beautiful and bright all the way down to the bottom and then poof. So that's how we want to go. So with that I just want to conclude I hope this answers question of how fast I'm going to see results. The takeaway is depending on what is going on inside your body it can happen very fast but if there's a lot of tissue damage that may take longer for you to notice more sustained or significant benefit so it doesn't mean that the benefit is not coming but you may not notice it the repair has come to a certain stage. So hope this is helpful and I will see you next time for the next question. Again thank you.
