Short excerpt from a YouTube video where two speakers discuss the origins of the Lagree Fitness method. In this exchange Speaker B suggests the method was inspired by Pilates; Speaker A clarifies that the method was inspired by the equipment (i.e., Pilates equipment). The clip focuses on attribution of inspiration rather than technical details of the method.
Okay, but you have to admit that your method was inspired initially by Pilates. Right?
So the method was inspired by the equipment.
Okay.
So I got introduced to pilates back in 98. I came to LA to pursue a career in acting. So I decided to do personal training. So this one location, this one studio in on Melrose, was offering both weight training and Pilates. And then the owner saw that I knew that was talking about for fitness, for. For working out, for movement. So he recommended that also teach Pilates at his studio. And. And so when I started to learn Pilates and teach Pilates, I fell in love with the Reformer. So the method is based, or the equipment is based on the Reformer. I infused all the weight training exercise that I would do at the gym and also the weight training techniques, because I use a lot of bodybuilding training techniques in the gris. And I adapted that on the Reformer and other Pilates apparatus, and that's how Legree came out. But I was the first person when people ask me, hey, what do you call this method? In 1998, I called it Pilates Plus.
