Dr. Joy Kong describes how reintroducing natural killer cells into aging mice cleared senescent cells, restoring their fur, mobility, and cognition. Stem cell therapies can either boost NK cells or directly eliminate dysfunctional cells, offering two paths to reverse aging.

They start to look young again. They start to walk and their fur comes back. Their cognition comes back. It's because you're removing what's not functioning. They've done this experiment on this rat that has a condition very similar to the human condition called progeria, which is premature aging. They don't have— they lack natural killer cells. They could not remove these old cells, so they just sit there. So they have an animal, they have a similar condition. They're young mice, but they look like old mice. So these natural killer cells all of a sudden kills off all these old and degenerate cells. And guess what happens to the mice? They start to look young again. They start to walk and their fur comes back, their cognition comes back. It's because you're removing what's not functioning. The stem cells can stimulate your immune system to amplify the natural killer cells, right? But it can also directly kill off these senescent cells.
