A friend deleted Meta apps and got more productive. One person meant to send an Instagram DM but spent 18 minutes scrolling instead. Social media platforms use algorithms designed like slot machines to hijack your attention and time.
I just had a guy text me 2 days ago.
He's like, dude, I deleted Meta and all Meta apps from my phone.
Unbelievable productivity. You know, I would be like, oh damn, let me just look at this one thing. I got to send this one DM through Instagram. 18 minutes later, I'm watching a guy build a cabin with his bare hands and I'm like, what the fuck? You know, where'd my time go? The Silicon Valley tech nerds out there, we're outgunned by their brains and their ability to create addictive algorithms. Like they based it off of the casinos. The addictive nature of casinos and the slot machines. Social media has that novelty baked into it. So we wonder why we're so addicted to it. Well, it's designed to be so. Without real discipline, you're going to basically give it all the time that you allow it. It'll suck all of it.
People feel like they're making more money because they're more focused and they, they're saving their time because they're creating original content, not what they just saw from somebody else.
