YouTube video by Dr. Joy Kong, MD (triple board certified stem cell specialist) arguing against the idea that larger numbers of expanded stem cells used in overseas clinics are better. She explains that expansion in incubators leads to differentiation, increased immune reactions and inflammatory secretion, and potentially more side effects (e.g., cytokine storms). She contrasts that with her clinic’s approach using 20–60 million non-expanded cells, claiming equal or better results with fewer side effects.

I disagree. More isn't always better. We've all heard about Tony Robbins and Joe Rogan going overseas to get stem cell treatment. And people think we have to go overseas in order to get good stem cell treatment, which is just not true. Let me break this down for you. I'm Dr. Joy, a triple board certified stem cell specialist and longevity expert. When people go overseas, they expect to receive a large number of cells. 200, 300 million is a common number. However, what kind of cells are they getting? Just because it's in large number, it doesn't mean the cells have the same get these large numbers. They actually grow the cells in an incubator. When the cells start to divide, they will divide asymmetrically. So if you keep letting the cells expand, you're going to get the majority of them as differentiated cells. What happens with that? People are going to get more side effects because the cells are expressing their own surface markers which can trigger an immune reaction. They can also secrete inflammatory molecules which may be contributing to what Tony Robbins was talking about as the cytokine storm, which I've never seen in my clinic. For my patients have large number of cells that are expanded compared to a small number of cells that are not expanded, you actually lose effectiveness. At my clinic, we use between 20 to 60 million cells per treatment. In comparison, we get just as good, if not better results with much less side effects. And to be honest, these clinics grow the cells to huge numbers and only give you a small portion of it. So they're cutting their own cost, yet charging you more money. So do you think it's worth it?
