Joy Kong, MD explains why umbilical cord derived stem cells work better than your own cells for therapy, especially if you're over 45-50. Your cells accumulate damage over time, making younger donor cells safer and more effective.

One reason why I'm insisting on giving people umbilical cord derived stem cells because it's actually safer than using your own. People always think, oh, my own is better. There are all kinds of drawbacks of using your own. One being that your own cells are so much older, so one is less effective. But also it can promote cancer growth when younger cells still have the intelligence to recognize cancer and kill off cancer. So, so that's a huge difference. Knowing that difference and having seen clinical studies showing those results, I'm just not comfortable giving people their own stem cells, especially if they pass the age, you know, 45, 50. It's just the risk is just will start to mount.
