A short YouTube interview clip (Dec 16, 2025) in which Joy Kong, MD explains cancer-related risks of autologous (patient-derived) stem cell therapies. She states these cells do not form new cancers but can exacerbate existing cancer by promoting growth and because aging immune systems are less able to clear abnormal cells.

Let me clarify this. So you're saying that using our own cells could potentially have a greater risk for having cancer or developing cancer.
It can exacerbate existing cancer. So these cells do not form new cancer. But we all know in the human body, things go wrong, and they're always kind of abnormal cells that are cancerous. But your immune system, if you're strong, it will get rid of them. But as we get older, it's harder to get rid of them because our immune system is not as powerful. And of course, these little cells floating around, trying to become more, to become bigger. Right. They always want to take over the organism. If you give the body certain elements, that only tells everything to grow. Without recognizing that some cells don't belong there and should not be growing, they should die. Then you have a problem.
