Why, if it's coming from an outside source, these cells, why does the recipient not have a host response?
That's the beauty of stem cells, right? So in a sense, it's fairly blank. When they're very, very young, they have a better capability of adapting to the host body and living there. So one example is if you try to do bone marrow transplant. So between two adults, right? You extract bone marrow from one person, you get the cells, and then you put into the other person. Even if they're perfectly matched, there is still a chance of rejection. But if you use umbilical cord blood, the blood. Cord blood compensation is very similar to the bone marrow. So. But when it's from the umbilical cord, using cord blood, completely unmatched, very, very little chance of rejection.
