Joy Kong explains why big pharma ignores methylene blue: it's cheap, well-studied for over a hundred years, safe, and can't be patented. Without patent protection, there's no profit motive to fund research, even if it helps mitochondria.

One question from people is why isn't big Pharma or pharma pushing the substance? So how would you answer that?
That's a simple one. There's no money. When we started developing this, I want it to be inexpensive so that more people can take it, because I'd rather have something out there that's inexpensive, affordable, so more people take and get the benefit from it. But big Pharma doesn't want it because they want more money. They want all the research behind it. This has been researched for over a hundred years, so there's been thousands and thousands of studies already been done for. So we know it's safe so we don't have to recuperate that money, but we affordable for people. And big Pharma just seems to turn down anything that doesn't have much money. They can't patent it now. And so it's better to ignore it and try to come up with some other things to replace it. And unfortunately, they haven't been able to find a molecule like methylene blue that can bring nutrients into mitochondria and take all the toxins out of the mitochondria. So we've got that benefit from all the years of studies on it, but they just don't want to do any more research on it because they don't think they could ever patent it.
