A German study found that depressed people who took 30-minute hot baths twice a week improved twice as fast as those doing cardio. The heat resets your body's temperature rhythm, which depression disrupts. Two baths a week is all it takes.

A study just found that taking 2 hot baths a week is one of the best cures for depression we know. It even shows more benefits than exercise. Researchers in Germany took 45 people with diagnosed depression and split them in 2. One group did 40 minutes of proper cardio twice a week. The other group sat in a hot bath for 30 minutes, then wrapped up warm for another 20, also twice a week. 8 weeks later, both groups were better, but the bath group improved at about twice the pace. When you're depressed, your body temperature rhythm gets out of balance. You run too warm at night, right when you should be cooling down to sleep, because your body is supposed to drop about a degree in the evening, and that drop is actually the signal that starts sleep. A hot bath pushes your temperature up on purpose. Then when you get out, your body overcorrects and drops lower than where it started. Your brain reads that drop as a signal to sleep, and the rhythm resets. You don't need a prescription. You don't need a program. You don't need a subscription to anything. It takes 30 minutes twice a week, and anybody with a bathtub can start tonight. And make sure to follow for more because I post stuff like this every single day.
