In this solo podcast episode, Katheline Jean‑Pierre shares a personal routine that transformed her day: a 15‑minute morning meditation followed by a series of affirmations. She explains how this practice lowers cortisol, improves mental clarity, and serves as a "mental and emotional software update". Jean‑Pierre expands the routine into a broader system that includes listening to the body—getting adequate sleep, staying hydrated, moving, and deliberately incorporating fun—as essential components for sustainable, top‑5% performance. She frames the approach as a stackable set of habits that reset the mind, manage stress, and foster joy, and concludes with five actionable takeaways: find a reset, stack practices, lower cortisol intentionally, listen to your body, and make joy non‑negotiable. Listeners are invited to share their own hacks via Instagram (@Katheline Jean‑Pierre).

Hello, hello, hello, hello, top 5 presenters. This is Katheline Jean-Pierre, your podcast host. And today, for those who don't know the show, I want to welcome you to the show where we talk about what it actually takes to perform at the highest level, not just in business, but in life. Today, I want to share something really personal with you, something that honestly changed the game for me. And I'm calling this one, one of the biggest hacks. I've discovered on my own journey. Let's dive in. Meditation. I know, I know, I know, you've heard about meditation a million times, right? Everyone's talking about it. Here's the thing, there's a big difference between knowing you should meditate and actually experiencing what it does for you. So this morning, like literally this morning before I sat down to record this, I did my 15-minute meditation. Just 15 minutes. And let me tell you, it completely reset my day. I woke up, my mind was already racing about the meetings I had, the emails I needed to send, the content I needed to create. My brain was like on overdrive before I even brushed my teeth. But those 15 minutes, they brought me back to center. So now I just don't stop at meditation. For me, it's a whole system. Because here's what I've learned. If my mind is calm, I know my cortisol is going to go lower. And if you don't know, cortisol is that stress hormone that wreaks havoc on your body. When it's too high, it makes you hold on to weight. Oh no. It messes with your sleep. It clouds your thinking. So when I meditate, I'm not just sitting there trying to clear my mind. I'm actively lowering my cortisol. I'm telling my body, hey, we are safe, we are good, you can relax. And then I layer in affirmations. After my meditation, I speak life into my day. I tell myself who I am and who I'm becoming. Things like, I am focused, I am powerful, I move through my day with ease and intention, I'm a very successful entrepreneur. It sounds simple, but this combination— meditation Plus affirmations, it's like giving yourself a mental and emotional software update every single morning. But here's what gets real. This is about training yourself. I'm really learning and training myself to be in tune with what my body and mind need, just like this yawning. And that's not always easy in our hustle culture, right? We're told to push, push, push, grind harder, sleep less, do more. But being in the top 5% of achievers, it's not about burning yourself out. It's about sustainable excellence. And that means I have to listen to my body. And I love to listen to my body. Nap when I need to, go for a walk. And sometimes that also means I need to sleep more. Yes, I said it. Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is rest. Because when you're exhausted, you're not operating at your highest level. You're just going through the motions. And sometimes it means I need to drink more water. I know it sounds basic, but when was the last time you actually checked in with yourself and asked, am I hydrated? Is my body getting what it needs? And here's the one thing that we forget the most. I just sometimes, I just need to have fun. As a matter of fact, I need to have fun, not as a reward for working hard, but not as something I'll do someday when things slow down, but as a non-negotiable part of my routine. Because when you're constantly in stress mode, when you're always in fight or flight, your body doesn't know the difference between running from a tiger and running from a deadline. It's gonna respond the same way. But when you have fun, when you laugh, when you do things that light you up, you're telling your body, we are We can thrive. So let me bring this all together for you. The top 5%ers aren't just working harder, they're working smarter. They understand that peak performance requires a calm mind, a healthy body, and a joyful spirit. Here's what I want you to take away from today. 1. Find your reset. For me, it's 15 minutes of meditation. For you, it might be something else. But find that practice that brings you back to center. 2. Stack your practices. Meditations plus affirmations, movement plus music, whatever works for you. Make it a system, not just a random act. 3. Lower your cortisol intentionally. This isn't woo-woo, this is science. Manage your stress response and you'll manage your life better. 4. Listen to your body. Sleep when you need sleep. Hydrate, nourish yourself. Your body is the vehicle that carries you through life, and treat it like it. 5. Have fun. Make joy a non-negotiable. You didn't come this far to be miserable at the top. All right, that's what I got for you today, and I want to hear from you in the comments. If you're on Spotify or anywhere online, what's your biggest hack for managing your mind and body? Let's build a community of people who understand that excellence isn't about the grind, it's about a truthful alignment. One of the biggest hacks I would say is meditation. There's a big difference. Like this morning I did my 15-minute meditation, it just resets my day. And then also affirmations. It's a whole system. Because if my mind is calm, then I know my cortisol is gonna go lower. And then if my cortisol is low, then I'm not gonna be holding on to everything and really like learning and training myself and also listening to my body. Sometimes I need to sleep more and drink more water, and sometimes I just need to have fun. Welcome to Driving Impact.
