NAD+ Reconstitution Hack 🧪

Katie Mullen shows how to reconstitute 1,000 mg of NAD+ powder with 4 mL of bacteriostatic water. Add water slowly down the vial's side, equalize pressure with air first, then roll gently in your hands until clear. Store in the refrigerator.

We're going to be reconstituting 1,000 milligrams of NAD+ with 4 milliliters of backwater. This one's pretty stingy. It feels like a bee sting going in. So a lot of people will add a lot more backwater. The more diluted it is, and it might not sting as much. So if you guys have stingy problems with this, you can add more backwater. I personally don't like a lot of liquid in the syringe because if you add backwater, it's going to come to like here, and that's a lot. So I'm just going to suck it up, and I'm going to put in 4 milliliters into this, and that's going to make my like draw 20 units. It's pretty small. You're gonna open up this plastic top. A lot of people will accidentally take off this aluminum ring. You got to keep that on. That's what keeps the plug or stopper thing on there, keep everything sterile. So don't take off this metal part. Here's my backwater. I'm gonna pull 4 milliliters of backwater and put it in here. So I don't get a separate syringe for reconstitution, I just use the same ones, and these are each 1 mL. So I'm gonna do 4 of these. So 1, 2, 3, 4. Okay, this is key. All right, so the suction inside of these sealed vials is strong, so in order to stabilize the pressure, you're gonna push in the same amount of air that you're gonna pull out. So in this case, I'm pushing in a whole milliliter of air so that when I pull it, it makes it easy, because sometimes the, uh, the suction makes it so hard to pull. It's not super hard, sometimes you gotta let it catch up at the top. All right, there we go. So that's 1 mL. You're gonna put 1 syringe full into the top of the vial that you're reconstituting. You're not going to put it straight down into the powder, you're going to kind of like put it onto the side so that the liquid kind of goes down the inside of the vial, so it's a little more like gentle of a process. All right, let's see if you can see this. It's kind of going down the side, gently going in. It's not spraying all over the inside. All right, so that was 1. So I'm gonna do 3 more of those. There we go. So that's 4. To mix it, you don't want to shake it. I know some people said it doesn't hurt it or anything, but I like to roll it. I like to roll it in my hands like this and then kind of like swirl it slowly until all the powder's off the bottom. So you see there's some like remnants, so I'm just gonna keep rolling. That's pretty much done. So this one went pretty quick, but a lot of the times it'll take a little bit— 5 minutes maybe— of like just rolling this around to get all of the powder off the bottom. You're gonna check and see that like everything's clear, there's no like chunks of powder, and then you're good to go. So then you put this in the fridge. Okay, I put my backwater in the fridge too. Some people like to come at me about that, but I don't know if it matters.
