Kolding Castle in Denmark burned down in the 1800s, and the 1970s renovation kept the charred black bricks for that romantic ruin look. Now it's a museum housing the Flora Danica plate set, an illustrated encyclopedia of Danish wildflowers commissioned by the royal family.

Kolding Castle was a beautiful ruin. It burned to the ground in the 1800s, and when they renovated it in the 1970s, they kept some of that romantic ruin vibe. Going through the castle, you'll see charred black bricks on the walls. But it's a regular museum too, where you can see Flora Danica, the famous set of plates from the Danish royal family. It is based on an encyclopedia of Danish wildflowers. Golden Castle has a great gift shop as well.
