Foreign welcome Back to episode 112. I am your host of leadership in a nutshell where we're cracking the code of your driven mind. Today's episode is this all there is. So today I want to go a little deeper and I'm going to go a little advanced. So if you're a newer leader, if you're kind of in the major process of developing your game, I want you to go ahead and go on this ride with us for a few minutes here today. But I also want you to honor that you might be in it at the moment, you might be right in the grind. And that's okay. Wherever you are is exactly where you're supposed to be. But I'd like to take a moment today and just speak with my. I don't, I'm hesitant to even use the word advance. Maybe longer term, maybe there's a level of awareness, of awakening of a consciousness where some things are working pretty well. And so if things are working pretty well, it doesn't mean that there's not massive opportunity to still up level and improve and grow and all those incredible things that we get a chance to do every day. But I've had a question that's come to me from clients in a few different ways and a few different times in their career or they're in different places in their careers, I should say. But it came up recently and I just wanted to record an episode to get it on the table for you to make your own kind of decisions and judgments and thoughts around. So the question is this all there is? And so one of the interesting things that has happened during the great economy and there's been, and especially in home services, regardless of your industry, I focus on home services a lot here. And we've been blessed in many home services. We were blessed all through the pandemic. Some of you in other industries have been blessed by all the cash that was created and on personal and home balance sheets by, by this situation. But many of you have built some wealth and have up leveled wages or took advantage of low interest rates and some different things. And so because of that, you've, some of you feel, how will I put this? You feel a little more successful than you used to. And even some of you feel more successful than you ever thought you would. And that's a little bit of an angle that I want to explore today. Is this all there is? And sometimes when you become economically independent, when you create a certain level of time freedom in your life and in your business and in your career, As a leader, sometimes you start going, okay, well, I don't have to worry about that anymore. Or at least not at the same level that I used to. So it's not consuming me. Remember when you first started? I remember I started as a drain cleaner by myself in the truck in April of 1994. And I was consumed. I was in it. I was like non stop. And then I fast forward after selling. Actually, I started this business long before I sold that. What am I thinking? So when I launched Blue Collar years ago, I was in it. And I was the guy. Christie was the backstage. I was the front stage. The lovely Christie that is, she was backstage. I'm frontstage and we're running all over the country, us, Canada, Australia, doing on sites, doing ride along. And we were in it. And then I started building a team and empowering people and. And as I've done this a couple of times in my career, I've had this opportunity to go, well, is this all there is? And when clients start asking me, start going, well, wait a minute. And I wanted to share with you today a client that will remain unnamed that, that I was recently having a chat with and, and he received a. A bit of an inheritance. And it's not like, forget about life, I don't ever have to think about money again type of inheritance, but healthy seven figures that he received kind of somewhat out of nowhere, didn't know it was coming. Three months later, it's in his checking account. And so I was having a chat and this kind of question kind of came up, like, whoa. And I was like, dude, this is amazing. Oh my gosh, this is almost like, like winning the lottery in a way. It's like, what are you feeling, man? What's it like to feel this? And he said, dude, I don't know, it's kind of weird, but call me crazy, but it seems odd. It seems like I would feel different. And so we explored it and we did some work and did some thinking exercises and some writing around it and some different things. But it made me think like, like that's almost like a lottery type situation where it wasn't even necessarily created by him, but all of a sudden he ended up with it. So there's some psychological stuff going on behind the scenes of, well, am I worthy of this? And what's that mean? And then there's a responsibility level that it was family money. So then it's like, well, crap, I got this family money, I better make sure that I'm a good steward of somebody else's money, basically, as it passes through my generation and so on and so forth. And so I just wanted to touch base today on you and where you are and whatever you're striving for. Is this all there is? When you have that kind of pop in, it's the beginning of a deeper question of what am I really looking for? What am I and why am I still seeking, if you will? I was talking to another friend of mine that's in the freedom business and he was, he was talking about clients of his that he's got a client right now buying a jet. And he said they're buying this jet in the interest of freedom. And if you could see me in my studio, I'm putting that in air quotes for me, right? Or for you, rather. It's like in the interest of, quote, freedom, this client is buying a jet of his so they can be more efficient and work more between point A and point B. So I fly private so I can work on the plane. And we were having this conversation like, is that freedom? And I'm not here to judge it. Hey, do your thing. If you want to go get an airplane, I don't care. That's up to you. But for you on this line today, on this line on, on our podcast, I just want you to think about where you are. I was just, I was having coffee with a buddy earlier today at the time I'm recording this and I told him, I'm like, my 10 year old self goes, damn, dude, well done. Like, there's 10 years old. I never thought I would live this dream life. I've got an incredible wife, I've got an incredible team. I live where I want to live, which I left. I moved away from where my parents set roots. I was born in one place, they moved me to another place. I chose a different place. So I live where I want to live. I play the game of life with who I want to play it, how I want to play it the way I want to play it for as long as I want to play it. Like, I'm super blessed by that. And I, I'm, I'm economically independent to a, to a point. Like, I don't wonder where my next meal is coming from and different things like that. So I, I feel very fortunate and I feel very blessed, but I don't feel like, oh my God, I'm a zillionaire. Oh my God, I've got it all, like, and that's what I want you to think about. Is this all there is? Yes. And no. And I'm gonna, and I'm gonna wrap that toward the end of this. But there's some questions I want you to think about. So some of you are going, well, I'd like to have multiple seven figures dropped in my account. Let me figure this out, right? I know when I was a poor kid growing up wearing secondhand clothes, I always thought, well, let me, let me have the fancy clothes and the, the name brand stuff and let me see what it's like to not fit in. And what I learned in life, nobody fits in. You don't fit in. And whether you're wearing the brands or you don't fit in because you're wearing secondhand clothes, we're all just doing our best we can. So if none of us fit in, then doesn't that mean that all of us fit in? We're just having a human experience together. And so when you hit a level of success and go, is this all there is? It's time for a deeper question, like, who am I? What am I doing? Why am I doing what I'm doing? And I love those questions because what I know, my friend, and I know this from coaching really high level people. Now I'm blessed to coach some people with a lot of freedom. Some people have a lot of dough, some people have multiple companies. Some there's all these different things in the behavior change world that I'm blessed to play in. And I want you to think about though, like, going deeper because is this all there is? No. The immediate answer is no, that's not. There's. This is not, quote again, air quotes. All there is. And yet, yes, this is all there is. It's you, it's your consciousness, it's your being. I've got chills while I'm talking to you right now. This is what it's all about. The opportunity to ask the question, the opportunity to look at your life. The opportunity to say, who am I? What am I doing? Why am I doing this stuff? Does it still make sense for me? I had the great opportunity to own a service business for 27 years. Yeah, 27 years. 24 years. 27. Yeah, 27. Good grief. I don't know. So whatever. A long time is. And in the scape, in the scheme of things. And then. But I was running two companies for a while. Cause I'd already launched blue collar. And then I'm like, okay, well. And then one of my biggest mentors is what he calls a monogamous entrepreneur. It's one company. Other friends and peers have multiple companies, it doesn't matter. But everybody's trying to identify who they are, what they're doing and why they're doing it. Through this external stuff, you will never find freedom from money, you will never find freedom from a relationship. You will never find freedom from something outside of you. Is this all there is? Yes. If your answer is consciousness is all there is. And it takes a certain level of consciousness for you to sit through an episode like this today and reflect and go, huh, my business is in a shit show right now. Kenny, forgive the s drop, I guess, but I'm just speaking to you from passion and love today. It's like, no, I'm in a tough place, Kenny. This episode really wasn't for me. Well then, is that struggle all there is? Maybe that's a question back. If you're on top of your game, is this all there is? Maybe you sold your business and you cashed out. Is this all there is? Maybe you took on a partner. Is this constantly. Is your. No, it's not all there is because there's more life to be had if you're alive. It's not all there is. And yet consciousness is all there is. Am I getting your mind spinning a little bit? Am I starting to mess with your head? I hope so, because the results that you get in your life are all about the questions you ask. I'm a happiness guru and I want you to be happy. I want you to think about what makes you happy and I want you to eliminate conditional happiness in your life. And as I just, I said that one time and then people were starting to call me that. I'm in a mastermind group with some high level entrepreneurs and they were like, happy? Yeah, you're the happiness guru. So forgive me for saying that's almost an ego statement, that I'm a happiness guru. I love happiness and I live it, breathe it, preach it. Do I fall into funk? Sure. But it's a moment in a time, in a. I'm quickly able from consciousness to get right back out and go, hey man, I'm just living the game of life. And that's what I'm doing here with you today is sharing this. And so you could have multiple millions dropped in your account and quickly you're going to realize you brought yourself with you because look back on your life. You measure progress forward by reviewing progress backwards. So you look back, that's why I dropped the 12, the 10 year old boy on you today. Where my 10 year old self would go, damn, dude, you're crushing it. My 51 year old self says, dude, you're just getting started, man. Hey, check it out. You're starting to get at some of this stuff. You're starting to understand life a little bit, starting to understand relationships. You're starting to go inside. You're starting to get clear on consciousness. Check it out, Kenny. Here we go. The next, whatever, 90 something years I get to live, I'm gonna live to 146. So as I'm going through, going, damn, dude, I'm just getting rolling. But measure forward by measuring back and looking at, look how far you've come. Is this all there is? Check the question, check the answer. Go deeper. You got this. I'm here for you. I'm honored to play the game with you. Kick this episode to somebody that you care about. Let them kind of find some contentment and some peace while they're continuing to build their life. Life is here for you to live it and you're meant to be happy. That's what it's all about. I'm Kenny Chapman, your host of Leadership in a nutshell, episode 112. I'm so honored that you spent some time with me. Share this episode until we talk, make it a better than fantastic week. I'll see you next time. Thanks.
