Foreign Kenny Chapman here, your host of Leadership in a nutshell. Yep. We're cracking the code of the driven mind. I'm super honored and just grateful that you're here with me for episode 88. We're talking about celebrating success matters. That's today's topic. Yes. I'm recording this during the holiday season, and it's a time that, you know, a lot of people are celebrating a of people are taught, here's the reality. And I'm not trying to go all dark on your holidays or anything, but I don't think that we turn to the calendar and say, oh, hey, let's celebrate this or that or whatever. Now, as a driven entrepreneur, I know that we struggle generally, people like you and I, on taking a moment, taking the time, stepping back, reflecting, honoring the growth that we've created, honoring the jobs that we've created or filled. If you're a manager, the influence that, that you create on people throughout the days, weeks, and years that you spend in the role of influencer. And I don't mean social media influencer. I'm talking about life enhancement influencer. And I just want you to honor that within yourself as we talk about celebrating success and why it matters today. And so there's a couple key things that we want to really remember, and that is that, number one, it feels great. I mean, celebrating success straight up feels great, but it also, it reinforces a positive attitude that is necessary for our next level challenges. So let's say I'm celebrating a milestone in business or life, and this is, you know, as a leadership podcast. So we talk a lot about the driven mind. We talk about different things that motivate us. You know, recently we did some meditation work together. Everything ties to the mind and the physiology and what we focus on. But one of the things that we know is we are creators and we're going to continue to create things in our lives. And if we don't celebrate some success along the way, then there's no cliche that just you're just going to end up in a box one day and boom, there you go, you're done. You know, and the old cliches of you can't take it with you and no matter how many millions you amass, and a lot of people use that as justification not to become, you know, financially stable or wealthy at certain levels or whatever that is. And I'm not here to tell you how much money you should make or how much money you should spend. You can certainly be economically independent without making millions of Dollars, there's no doubt about that. Obviously it's about how you set up your life and what you spend and some of that type of thing. But the fact of the matter is it really comes down to you will create more challenges. Can I get a head nod from you? Are going to create more challenges as you create. And so the fact of the matter is that as I grow, as I accomplish, I need to take a moment and feel good about it and reinforce that positive attitude that's going to be needed when I get my legs kicked out from under me in the next realm, in the next lesson, in the next universal principle that I'm learning. Whatever it is that's going to happen, that I happen to use growing businesses, that's where I learn about people, I learn about myself, I learn about my own spirituality through business. There's a lot of ways that I use this platform to learn from. And so if I don't take a moment and celebrate when things are going well, or when we're doing something that we accomplish a goal that we set out to do, or you know, whatever that is, I'm literally robbing myself from the greatness that's necessary. And so let's keep an eye on that. The other thing I want you to think about is that it changes your physiology. Like literally if you know, I'm big on chemical in the brain and the, I mean internal chemical, not adding chemical the way that I used to add to my life or my brain. I'm talking about what you manufacture as this God given human being that has the most powerful computer in the world in your brain. And so you literally change your physiology when you celebrate success. And what happens is that strengthens your winning gene. So now I'm beginning, you know, there's scientific proof that the neurons in our brains that fire together, they wire together and then we create these neuro pathways. And when I'm doing that and when I'm celebrating success, then I'm creating that pathway in my brain and my brain likes that and my brain wants more of that and then my brain will go, oh, okay, you know, that's pretty cool, let's do more of this. But if I continue to create and I have success and I have wins and I'm going in the right direction and I'm accomplishing things and I'm hitting milestones and you know, slaying my goals and all the different things and if I don't take time to celebrate or I just get stuck in, okay, that's fine. But now what's next. What's next? What's next? Then I'm really telling myself that what I'm doing just really isn't that important. It's really not that exciting. Because if it was important and exciting, I would take a moment and celebrate. And so when you think about, you know, I'm recording this during football season and I used to be a huge football fan and I would live and die my own success by and happiness based on a football team, how crazy that is to even think about and reflect back on how I used to be when it came to professional sports. But if you just take a football season or any type of an athletic season and you celebrate some wins throughout, you know, take football 16, 17 games and you celebrate a couple wins and you celebrate and you feel good and you watch the film and you know what you did well and you know, there's a couple areas, but you celebrate. You haven't won the super bowl yet. You haven't got to the end of the actual ultimate goal, but you're celebrating as you go. And even when you lose, you're celebrating some good things along the line. Any of you that have been in any of my coaching or any coaching with blue collar, we always talk about, you know, what are some positive things going on, what are some wins that you're having. Because if you want to look for fault there, it's everywhere. Turn on any piece of television, turn on your cell phone and scroll social media. There's all kinds of negativity. Now, I'm not saying take an ostrich approach and bury your head in the sand. I'm saying let's look for what's right, though. There's a whole lot of right in the world. When I don't watch mass media, when I stay away from social media groups and negativity, guess what? The world's pretty darn good place. Would you agree? The thing is that people get involved and there's a collective conscious movement around frustration and lack and scarcity and fear, and I just choose not to buy it. And so the more that I strengthen that, and that comes from paying attention to winning, it's easy to find out when we lose, it's easy to look for those things. And unfortunately or fortunately, it is what it is. So it's not good or bad. It's just that science is wired to look for what's wrong. Now, if you look at a human being, you can find all kinds of things wrong. And so we develop drugs to offset this, and we create labels and say Your brain is add, adhd, ocd. Figure out some more freaking letters and tell me what's wrong with me. Okay? Cool story, bro. Now I'm going to get back to meditating, journaling, elevating my game, creating jobs, winning, and helping people accomplish their greatest life and celebrating their best success. Same thing you're doing. Let's focus on that when we celebrate together, right? So celebrating on your own is important, but I want you to think about celebrating with your team, celebrating with your family, celebrating with your kids, whatever that is, whatever the situation is, have some fun together. Because when you celebrate together now, you know, just like we strengthen our own brain conditioning now I strengthen relationship conditioning. And I believe in relationship capital. No different than the capital that the money that's in your wallet, you know? And I talk about a concept that I call confidence cash. I believe that confidence is a lot like having cash in our wallet, and we spend it, and sometimes it gets taken from us, like, you know, going to the ATM and we're the atm, and somebody robs us of some confidence. And I need to make some deposits. Guess what? Celebrating success also strengthens my confidence deposits. And I want you to just really be mindful of where you're focused and as you strengthen relationship capital. People want to win. And I think about. It's fascinating, even one of the core values that we hold at the blue collar success group is win together. It's one of our four core values as we win together. I mean, I don't have children. We don't have a big family. The lovely and Christy and I enjoy our life together, and I've got a small extended family, but really there's not a whole lot of family going on and different things like that. And so I create teams and I create businesses, and I have my relationships there, and I want strong relationship capital. I want to be rich in every aspect of my life, not just monetarily. I want to be rich physically. I want to be rich with relationships. I want to be rich in my own mindset, my spirituality. Like, I want to be rich all over the place, Right? And so how am I going to do that if I'm constantly delaying my wins and holding down my success and acting like it doesn't matter? The brain's not going to process that. It's not going to want to continue to go after it. Right? And so I want you to really think about that. You know, celebrating success is like, it's an emotional signature for more. It's like saying, hey, universe, this feels good. And I'M showing you that it feels good. I'm doing. You know, you go back to the old days of doing rain dances and different things like that. It's like, hey, I'm doing a success dance, right? They call it the happy dance or whatever you want to call it. I'm telling the God, universe, spirit like, hey, here we go. This is awesome. I want more of this. I want to win more. And then when I set my next goal, when I set out on my next path, when I create my next program or write my next book, I want to win. And when I learn from things, I want to celebrate those things. And what I'm doing is programming another part of my brain not to go too brain deep on you, but the brain runs everything, and our thinking runs a lot of things. And so there's that part I've talked about in the past called the reticular activating system. And that is like, I want you to just picture our Google of our brain. It's like it's paying attention. It acts like a filter. And so if I know what I'm looking for, if I know what I'm seeking, I type it into Google and it goes, hey, here's all this information that might be relevant to your search. Well, when I do that with a reticular activating system, part of my brain, I go, hey, here's what I'm looking for. Success. In this case, winning. In this case, milestones. In this case, accomplishments. In this case, I put that into my RAs, as it's referred to reticular activating system. And go, I'm looking for this. And then more and more and more, that's what it's all about. It's where you're looking, what you're paying attention to. Get focused on these things. So here's what I want you to do. I want you to just be super mindful and let's do an exercise. So if you're driving, don't pull over. Well, pull over. Don't try to write while you're driving. But I would encourage you to make sure you do this exercise. Like Kris Kruse says at the Blue collar success group, do not be upset about the results that you don't get from the work that you're not putting in. So I'm asking you to do this work so you can get the result that I'm looking to give you. So I want you to stop and I want you to create two lists right now with one action item. So here's what I want you to do. I want you to think about three successes, accomplishments, milestones, goals. And when I say milestone, you're not totally there yet. Of like the ultimate, like I said, we won game, game three of a 16 game, you know, season or whatever that is. You know, in business we have a 12 month season. We play the game 12 months. Regardless of when your fiscal year is. I've got a 12 month season and it's called a year. And then I break it up and I've got four quarters. So I've got another area of measurement and then I've got all kinds of ways that I can measure. I can measure by, by sales, I can measure by profitability, I can measure by growth, by how much I've learned. Some of you measure by, you know, number of trucks, revenue per team member. There's all kinds of different things. I'm also a fan of measuring some of the, call them quote intangibles. Some of the areas where like man, I got my butt handed to me over this past situation or I had a lawsuit that took place, or I had whatever happened, man, I learned so much through that. It doesn't show up on a balance sheet. It might not show up on an income statement, but damn, did I become a better person over going through that and working through a challenge or even a moment of suffering, a season of suffering in my life, whatever that is, right? So there's always something. So individually for you, I want you to write down three things. What are three successes, accomplishments, milestones, whatever those are for you, individually, then I want you to do the same thing and write down three of these. Success, accomplishment, milestone, goal, whatever for someone else, somebody like a team, one of your other managers, a frontline team member, a spouse, one of your kids, whatever it is. I want you to think about three accomplishments that somebody else or your team has done that you can celebrate. Because just as we have a hard time celebrating as driven people, guess what? Some of our frontline team has a hard time celebrating. Everybody in the world has a hard time celebrating because there's so much conditioning going on of telling us we're not enough. There's an entire multi billions of billions of billions dollar industry every day feeding us information and ads and marketing and all these different. Oh, you're not successful until you have a watch, a specific car, a certain amount of money in the bank and you have this insurance program, if you have this retire program, if you have this color of truck, if you have this level of height, if you have this weight, if you wear these kind of pants if you have this type of shoe, whatever it is, oh my gosh, I'm not successful until I have, have, have, do, do, do. I want you to be successful for you, being, being, being and celebrate those successes with those around you. So once you get your list of three for you personally and then come up with a list of three of someone else or another team or a team member, some you, what are those three for you, three for someone other than you or a team other than you, then I want you to just come up with, what will I do? What will I do to celebrate this? Maybe I'm going to take Jenny to lunch. Maybe I'm going to take Tommy to the movies. Maybe I'm going to have a date night with my wife. Maybe I'm going to celebrate with my leadership team. Maybe I'm going to order lunch into the office. Maybe I'm going to do a celebratory cake. Maybe I'm going to do a sing a song in the office, make a fool of myself. Maybe I'm going to dress up and come. Whatever it is, you don't have to spend a bunch of dough. It's not about how much you spend or what you do externally. It's about the act of celebrating. That's the key. There's all kinds of ways you can do it. I want you to get creative. I want you to think outside the box. I want you to have some fun, my friend. That's what it's all about, man. Life's too short not to have fun. And no matter how long life is, I plan on my life being super long. I'm going to live, heck, almost another hundred years from right now and life is just here not. Why would we not have fun Celebrating success matters, my friend. Go make it matter for you. I'm your host, Kenny Chapman. Thanks so much for being with me.
