Foreign. Here we go with episode 89, the biggest gift in business for December 28th. Hey, my friend Kenny Chapman here. Welcome back to Leadership in a Nutshell where we're cracking the code of the driven mind. I'm super, super pumped to be here with you for the last episode of 21. At the time I'm recording this, what an incredible UN year of education and learning. And I'm not actually going to do one of the kind of year end wrap up type podcasts that you might have been listening to this week or we'll listen to the next couple of days. I'm going to actually remind you of something that you already know and then I'm going to ask you to do an exercise. There's no results without activity. And the best way to get the results that we truly want is to take the activity and the action that we know we want, need, desire and deserve. And so I'm going to help guide you with a quick little process here today. So as we get rocking, I just want to let you know, today's title is the Biggest Gift in Business. And when I think about gifts, it's kind of, you know, I thought it's, oh, that kind of ties to this time of year. A lot of people are giving gifts, though. I'm not big on the holiday season of the implication of giving gifts and oh, I'm going to go buy some, you know, for a lot of people. I'm going to go buy some gifts for people that I don't have close relationships with, with money that I don't really have based on advertisement from people that I don't really trust, you know, whatever the case is. So the gift that I believe in is giving gifts to yourself in the form of growing as a leader, in a form of understanding who you are, what your team's wants, needs and desires are, and then crafting the technology. And I'll say mental technology. I'm not talking about hardware and cell phones and computers. I'm talking about crafting the mental technology that can help you create and get the results that you're looking for, desire and deserve. So episode 89, the biggest gift in Business. I'm going to tell you right now, the number one gift that you can give yourself is awareness and truth. So I've talked in the past on this podcast about the importance of awareness and heightening your awareness, elevating your conscious levels and all those different types of things. And that's a theme of my life. I can't not thread that kind of thing. Through this podcast, because I believe that we exist to elevate the levels of our consciousness. And for people like you and I, we happen to do that through business, through leadership, through growing ourselves. Regardless of the specific industry that you're in, you're probably in home services or certainly a blue collar space if you're joining us on this podcast. But it's a platform, that's all it is. Regardless of the type business you're in, regardless of how many team members you have, that is simply a platform to elevate your own consciousness level. So the best gift that we can give ourselves, regardless of time of year, regardless of your own beliefs, whether it's Christmas or not, I don't care. I'm not getting into that today. Not that I don't care. I care about you as a person, but I want you to choose your own beliefs and what works for you. So I want you to really realize though, that the gift of self awareness coupled with truth. So there's awareness and then there's truth. And those are kind of two different things that I'm wrapping in together here. Because I can be aware of something, I can be aware of a situation, I can be aware there's a need in the business. I can be aware that there's a strain on the relationship, regardless of what that is. I can be aware of that and then I can manifest, easy for me to say, I can manifest a story or manufacture something that kind of softens it, that changes it, that makes it feel, look, taste, smell differently than it might be. So I'm aware. And the number one awareness measurement is your gut. So I believe that our gut is our divine connection. It's where our truth lies. It's our creative intelligence. And I think that, you know, when things are off or not. Now there's a difference between a gut feeling of man. I'm not sure if we should go into this line of business because I know it's not the right thing in my gut or that there's a little bit of disturbance because I haven't learned how to completely handle my fear monger yet. And it's excitement. So if I would have misconstrued, say, my gut feeling for fear. When I first became a public speaker, I was terrified, put that in all caps. I mean, terrified to get on stage, terrified to go in front of people, terrified of the mistakes I was going to make. I understand now that was an egoic response. I was afraid of being judged. I had self worth, challenges and issues. And I was, you know, not Worthy in my own head of being an influence and a positive impact for people's lives and things like that. So I get that now. But depending on the level of consciousness that I had at that time, I could have easily misconstrued that quote. Gut feeling of fear for, oh, my gosh, I better not do you know, I better not become a public speaker. So, yes, it can be a bit of a slippery slope. I want you to be mindful of that. I want you to honor your truth as you work through it. And guess what? You always get to choose again. So it doesn't matter if you make the wrong decision or do something different. I remember several months ago, the lovely Christy and I were considering buying a second home in Colorado. Again, different place than where we used to live, but we will have another place in Colorado at some point. Just not where I grew up and not where I had my business. I want to be more in the mountains than that. And so we went through this whole process and we were thinking about, man, should we do this? And we contemplated and we meditated and we did muscle testing, and we did all kinds of different techniques and strategies, and we came up with what we thought was the right decision. And then as we went through, I just couldn't shake this feeling in my gut that just the timing wasn't right for us. And we kept talking, and she was actually having the same feeling. And so we got really close, actually. We made an offer. I mean, that's how close we got. We were under the preliminary part of a contract going in place, and it just didn't feel right. And so sometimes you need to continue to take action before you truly know what that gut feeling is trying to tell you. So I'm not trying to be, you know, be all over the place here with you today or not give you specifics. I'm gonna give you an exercise to do here in just a minute. But I want you to just realize that, you know, there's a lot of times when you look at people that are living out loud or living large, per se. I'm not talking about social media influence. I'm talking about people living in a way that you want to live. People that, you know, have the things that you want, the marriage you want, the income you want, the type of business you want, the relationship with your children that you want, the free time that you want, the business structure, the leadership team, those types of things. When I say live and large, that's what I mean. I don't care about who's posting what, on Instagram or TikTok, or maybe I'll make up my own like I did at our acceleration event back in October. But nonetheless, I just want you to honor the gut and realize that sometimes it takes another action to really remove things from the layers. So it will become intuitive. You'll get better and better at it as you continue to go. But the biggest gift you can give yourself as you head into 22 is, is heightening that awareness and honoring that truth. And so I can't talk about this topic without mentioning the four Agreements. Phenomenal book. I have all of my leaders read that book always in all the companies I've ever owned. Don Miguel Ruiz. It's a powerful, powerful, simple read quickly. Just as a reminder, I've talked about these in the past. If you're in any of our coaching programs at Blue Collar, you've probably heard us talk about it. I've done trainings on my perspective with this. But number one of the four agreements, number one, be impeccable with your word. So basically, like, what I'm talking about here is telling yourself the truth. But also this means, you know, not gossiping. Basically, don't be going behind people's back. And as a leader, that's incredibly important. I believe it's important in every relationship for everybody. But don't be going around talking about people and stuff. Be impeccable with your word. Number two, don't take anything personally. You know, when things happen or somebody says something or there's a mistake, don't take it personal. It's not about you. It's never about you. Everybody's doing the best they can, operating in their own levels of consciousness based on their ego and what, you know, what Eckhart Tolle calls the pain body. There's different things that layer into people's actions and decisions. It's about them, it's not about you. So don't take things personally. Number three, don't make assumptions. You know, not the old cliche of, you know, an assumption is make an ass out of you and me. That's how you spell assumption. That's. It's not what I'm talking about, though that could be still accurate. I think that must have been around since the 70s or something. But don't make assumptions, meaning that, you know, somebody comes in and they're a little gruff with you, or they're a little short with you, or they, you know, somebody, one of your technicians didn't follow a sales process in the field or the warehouse, didn't get a Part you needed or whatever it is. Don't make assumptions and go down this whole rabbit hole. Just go seek truth. Just go ask questions, find out what's going on. You don't need to get all riled up. You don't need to get your emotional roller coaster all fired up and just don't make assumptions as to what happened. Go get information. That's what it's all about. Number four, always do your best. Just always focus on the best that you've got. It's going to change by the day. Sometimes it's going to change by the hour or moment. I mean, you know, it just depends on what's going on, how you feel, your emotional status, how much you're attached to outcome, what type of pain you're allowing. If your addiction to suffering is manifesting or showing itself, whatever that is, it's going to impact your best. So just always do your best, whatever that is, okay? So impeccable with your word, don't take things personally, don't make assumptions, and always do your best. So here's the exercise I'm going to encourage you to do. As we start to wrap up here today, I want you to write three things. I'm big on writing exercises, as you know. So here's three things I want you to just write about and jot some bullet points and get some clarity in your head. Number one, what are your three biggest opportunities in 2022? What are the three biggest opportunities that you see personally and in the business for 2022? Just don't overthink it. Just kind of just opportunity, it excites you. You know, there's an opportunity in the marketplace, you know, there's a chance based on competition, whatever that is. Three biggest opportunities in 22. Second thing I want you to write is what are the. Your three biggest vulnerabilities for the same time period in 22 biggest vulnerabilities, say dangers, kind of threats. What are some areas that you could be exposed a little bit? You, Is it the labor pool? Is it pricing structure? Is it. You got a service manager you need to deal with? Or, you know, what is that for you? Biggest vulnerabilities? And the third thing is what do you want to keep on doing in your own unique ability, your unique genius, your ultimate advantage that you have that you bring? This is your badass, like where you are the biggest, baddest ass, like you can crush it, you know, yourself and as a business where, where you are the very, very best, what are three areas that you absolutely crush that you want to continue to do and perhaps even elevate a little bit more in 22 biggest opportunities, biggest vulnerabilities, and biggest badass. I rocket this. I want to keep doing these things in 22. Let's rock and roll on that. This is episode 89, the biggest gift in business.
