In this solo motivational video from the "Get Your Life Sundays" series, Dr. T (Dr. Tiera Henderson) explains why many people struggle to follow through on their goals and offers practical advice to improve execution. She outlines five common pitfalls: (1) doing just enough, where people start projects but abandon them halfway; (2) losing sight of their underlying "why," which erodes motivation; (3) being weighed down by imposter syndrome, leading to self‑doubt; (4) succumbing to distractions, with a suggested 20‑second rule and a pre‑day brain‑dump to limit their impact; and (5) taking on too many commitments, saying yes to everything, and neglecting self‑prioritization. Dr. T encourages viewers to identify which of these issues apply to them, apply the suggested tactics, and share their progress. She ends with a call‑to‑action to follow her on Instagram and LinkedIn for further guidance.

Hey everyone, it's Dr. T here again with another Get Your Life Sundays, because on Sundays, that's when we're trying to figure out what are we gonna do for the week, how are we gonna do it, how are we gonna accomplish it, okay? So today, I'm gonna talk to you about 5 reasons, get this, why your follow-through game is weak. Yeah, so I need you to get your pens, get your papers ready, because you need to figure out which one of these, or 2, or 3, you're struggling with, okay? So I'm jumping right in. Number 1: you do just enough. That's it. You do just enough that works for you, but no. Let me give you an example. So for me, I like to read, and I would start reading a book and I'll get halfway through, you know, I got this momentum going, but then I'm like, uh, next book. Like, I just totally switch gears. I leave a half-read book push it to the side, and that's not cool. So what is it that you're doing just enough with that you need to just amp up a little bit more? Okay. Number 2, you lost sight of your why. Why are you doing this? Why are you doing these goals? What is your why? Sometimes we need to reel it back a bit and remember why we even started in the first place. Okay. Build that momentum, whatever you, whatever you need to do. What is it that motivates you? What is it that will sustain you once you get started? These are key things that we need to know, okay? Number 3, you feel the weight of the imposter syndrome. It's real, I get it, you know? I've experienced it, I've, you know, had clients and friends who've experienced it as well. What are you gonna do? You gonna just sit underneath that weight of imposter syndrome or you gonna work through that? That's a question that you need to ask yourself as well. And typically when you start something new, that imposter syndrome kind of creeps in a bit. I remember when I first started teaching and, you know, all this stuff fresh out of school, I had that heavy weight, but you know, I just kept on going. So how are you going to release the weight of imposter syndrome? Alright, number 4, you give in to the weight of your distractions. Yeah, you give in to the weight of your distractions, and I want you to know that distractions can literally overpower your work ethic. Yeah, distractions can literally overpower your work ethic. When what you say are your priorities do not line up with what you do with your time, yeah, that's when something's got to change. Alright, so I've heard this sometime this week about a 20-second rule where you give your distractions 20 seconds worth of time because you have an understanding that your distractions can impact your time, your energy, and your attention, and we don't have time for that. We don't have time for that. Okay, so Number 5. Actually, before I get to number 5, here's another quick tip. So, before you start your day, you might want to just do a quick brain dump to lessen the amount of distractions that you have throughout the course of the day. Okay, number 5. You have too much unnecessary stuff on your plate. That's it. What needs to come off? Too much. You say yes to everything. You're a yes woman. Like, all the everyday people can count on you to do stuff for them, but when are you going to choose yourself? When are you going to prioritize yourself? This is the week for you to do that. Okay. So those are my 5 reasons why your follow-through game is weak. Let me know how it goes this week in the chat. I look forward to hearing from you.
