In this brief, conversational video, professional development speaker Kenston Henderson (CSP EPIC Experiences) outlines five practical actions viewers can take to help local small businesses during the holiday season—including Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. The first tip is to "spread the word" by sharing the business’s holiday promotions with personal networks. The second encourages active engagement with the business’s social‑media content—liking, commenting, sharing, and tagging posts across platforms such as Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Facebook—to boost algorithmic visibility. The third suggests offering one’s own skill set (e.g., social‑media management, holiday decorating) on a short‑term or pro‑bono basis to ease the business’s seasonal workload. The fourth advises attending the business’s events, pop‑up shops, or seasonal gatherings and bringing friends and family to increase foot traffic. The final tip emphasizes moral support: listening, encouraging, and providing small gestures like coffee or hot chocolate to alleviate stress. Throughout, Henderson repeats a call‑to‑action to save, share, and follow for more tips, positioning the advice as a way to strengthen the local economy both locally and globally.

So by you sharing their content, you are exposing them to a new group of people, especially if you know what social media platform they are on. Tag them in the post so that way they can get more eyes, whether it's, you know, IG, LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, whatever it is, tag them in it. Okay. Number 3, offer your skills. That's right. Well, it means If you have a skill set that they would need during the holiday season, let's say you're a social media person or you like to holiday decorate. If they're a store, why not help it, you know, go in and help them decorate for the holidays? If you're a social media person, why not offer, you know, your services for a few days just to help them as they, you know, get through the holidays? It's a beautiful thing. And then number 4, attend their events. Okay. If they have events, they're having pop-up shops, they're having a seasonal event, make sure that you support them so that way their business continues to build. Okay. Bring your friends, bring your family to their events so that way they can keep doing what they do. Hey, hey, hey. Good to see you. Good to see you. Glad you're joining in. Um, and then provide, uh, number 5, provide moral support. There's nothing like supporting a small business by encouraging them, especially during the holiday season. So encourage them, um, listen to them. They may have some stuff to get off their chest because they're so stressed, okay? But make sure that you are, um, encouraging them. Grab them a cup of coffee, especially if you're somewhere— they're somewhere cold. Grab them a cup of coffee or hot chocolate, their favorite beverage, and And that will mean the world to them as a small business owner. Hey, hey, hey. And just show me support.
