Henderson describes his work providing life coaching and talent development solutions for entrepreneurs and small‑to‑mid‑size businesses, drawing on a background rooted in a preacher‑parent household, a college education in adult learning, and 13 years in human resources focused on recruiting and benefits. He shares his emerging focus on motivational speaking, citing influences like Les Brown and Tony Robbins, and explains his passion for inspiring people to live with purpose. Henderson also promotes his instrumental relaxation CD “Breathe,” released in 2016, which is marketed for use in classrooms, daycares, and professional settings. Everyone, So put your hands together and let's welcome Kenston Henderson to our roundtable. Kenston Henderson, thank you so very much for saying yes today to Empire Radio. So please come and tell everyone who may be hearing about you for the first time what you do do.
Hi, thank you for having me. Um, so what I do is, uh, life coaching and talent development solutions for entrepreneurs in small to mid-sized businesses. And so what that looks like is anywhere from life and business coaching to again providing employee and leadership development for small to mid-sized Excellent.
That's wonderful. Extraordinary. So come on and tell everyone how you came into what you do, do your foundation, the background of you.
Yeah, so it, you know, it started when I was, you know, younger. I've been born and raised in church. My dad was a preacher, and it really surrounded me with a lot of people who was always motivating and inspiring others to do better.
Yes.
And so, um, that brought me up to going to college and studying adult and learning training principles, in which, you know, it all came together where I started to, you know, do that for my profession and since then been in human resources for the last 13 years. And so being heavily involved in the recruiting aspect and the benefits aspect, but my love and passion has always been around the training and development.
Excellent, extraordinary. Well, I'm a P— PK's kid too, Preacher's kid too, so I understand that. Yeah, okay. But was gonna say, what do you see coming up in the near future with all the wisdom and all the experience that you have? What do you, uh, see coming in your future for yourself?
Yeah, so, um, I really am seeing doing more motivational inspirational speaking. A few of my, my good people are just that. So from, uh, like Les Brown or Tony Robbins, and, um, that's really what I feel that, you know, that I'm being pushed in that area, um, because I, that's— I just have a heart and a passion to, um, inspire people to not just exist, um, but actually to live with purpose. And, you know, we weren't put on this earth just to just be here and take up space, but to actually do something and inspire other people around you. And as soon as, you know, in my coaching clients, as soon as I get them to the point where they have an aha moment, that's really when it really takes place. And that's how I know that's where I'm supposed to move and groove.
Well, I concur with what you're saying, my dear, because I always tell people that when you were born, the star was there for you too, just like Christ, who he foreknew, he predestined to come in the image of his dear Son. Your three kings came and gave you your gifts. That's the Trinity. So everyone is gifted and called to do something in life. And if we can focus on what we are called to do and to find our destiny, to find the true star that's connected to you, you won't have time for chaos and oppression and depression. You'll be so busy doing the work that is in you. And I always say, when you really find out what you're supposed to do and you say yes with a true heart, you know that song from Shirley Caesar? Yes, Lord, yes. You know what, provisions will come, the doors will open, the favor of God will be upon your life, and you'll be like, well, how did I get here? It's because you truly said yes. And I agree with you on that, definitely. So are you going to be writing anything or any kind of conferences, anything you might want to convey to the listening audience while they're listening to you?
Mm-hmm. Yeah, thank you, thank you. I'm glad you asked because, um, another desire of mine, or my passion of mine, is music. And so I just released an instrumental CD called Breathe, and that came out in February of 2016, and where it's a CD that really motivates you, it relaxes you, it takes you to a place of tranquility so that way you can, if you want to go to Hawaii, you can go to Hawaii with this music, but it's really to ease your mind, ease your heart. And put you at a place of peace. And it's being used, you know, really all over the world right now, you know, from daycare centers to classrooms to, you know, professionals who really just want to just relax. And that can be, you know, purchased on iTunes or CD Baby or Google Play. But that's really a heart of mine, is to really get that music to the world. And as far as my life coaching, that's expanding, you know, as we speak, as more and more people reach out. And I'm just continuing to encourage. And those where I really have a heart for is, you know, what really made this business come to life and my whole purpose come to life is going through a divorce. And it wasn't until I got out of the the divorce that everything opened up. Yes, because my desire, my passion for music, it was way down. My desire to motivate and inspire people was way down, just because going through the turmoil and the heartache and pain. But it was just something broke, and since then life has really been moving, and I say grooving, and, you know, I'm really operating in that purpose.
Yes, because you know something, being— growing up in the church, you know what they preached to us. But you know something, I believe that God is a God of second chance. Sometimes the person that you were with— I love how Tyler Perry says it so greatly— you thought they were the one for your life, but they were just for a season. And maybe that means that there's someone else that's going to come in your life as you come to maturity, if the Lord doesn't reconcile you like they always tell us to do. That will really appreciate the true essence of you. So I want to encourage you to understand, as long as you know how to love that favorite song, you will survive. You know what I'm saying? Because love is there. Love is there because love is in you. Love is in the air. It's everywhere. So I want to encourage you about that because you are an extraordinary young man and a nice young woman who has herself together. And, uh, whatever— I don't know what happened in the situation. Am I talking about against anybody? But you never know what might happen. But you keep seeking the Lord. And as you keep seeking the Lord and doing what you've been called to do, it's going to work out for you. Before you know, you're gonna be, what, I'm in love again, back in love again. Oh yeah, you gotta go. That's right. So what's gonna say, I want to tell you, Kenston Henderson CSP EPIC Experiences, thank you so very much for joining us today. And, uh, thank you for your inspiration. And, uh, one preacher's kid to another, just keep going on and doing the right thing because you got the right You got the right thing in your life. You found— you have a good foundation and it's gonna— all is well. All is well. And we must go to commercial. Oh, they're gonna come here and get me. We'll be right back, everyone.

So you see, son, good manners are very, very important. Someday, many years from now, when you're a grown-up, you'll be a man. And when you are, you should be a gentleman. Do you want me to go through it one more time?
Yes.
Yes, please.
Yes, please.
Exactly. Always say please, thank you, you're welcome, and excuse me. Sit up straight. Hold doors open for ladies. If a door's shut, then knock first. Don't burp. Don't swear. Don't speak with your mouth full. Don't reach across people's plates. Keep your elbows off the table.
What table?
And don't interrupt. While we're at it, don't stare. Don't use foul language. Don't call people names. But do remember people's names. Always share your toys. Play nice and cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze. On the bus, Never leave up your seat to anyone who has trouble standing. Bottom line, treat others the way you'd like to be treated. Got it?
Got it.
And stop picking your nose.
