Hey, great people. I know times are a little crazy right now. If you or someone you know just lost a job, I want you to hear me loud and clear. Listen to me. This is not the end of your story. I'll say it again. This is not the end of your story. With over 20 years of HR experience, I've seen people bounce back stronger than ever. And let me remind you, if you're doing life alone, you're doing it all wrong. I said, if you're doing life alone, you're doing it all wrong. You don't have to go through this by yourself. Let's get you back in the game here with 10 powerful moves that you need to make. Let's go. Number 1, take a deep breath and regroup. You see, first things first, don't panic. I know this hurts, but I need you to shift from shock to strategy. Number 2, update your resume and LinkedIn profile. Your resume is your marketing tool. Update it with your most recent wins and make sure your LinkedIn profile is looking sharp, like really sharp. Number 3, tap into your network. Listen, your next job is probably in your network, so reach out to a former coworker, industry connection, and/or mentor or coach. The right conversation can open the doors. Step 4: Optimize your online presence. You see, hiring managers will Google you, so clean up your social media and make sure your LinkedIn— again, LinkedIn— shines. Number 5: Upskill and certify. Use this time to grow. Websites like Coursera, Google Career Certificates, and LinkedIn Learning offer courses that will boost your marketability. Check out your local libraries as there may be some free resources there. Step 6: Tailor applications. Don't spray and pray, sending the same resume everywhere. You gotta stop and tailor your application to make sure it meets that specific job description. Step 7: Prepare for virtual and in-person interviews. Be ready to sell yourself. Practice answering "tell me more about yourself" or "why did you leave your last job?" and do it with confidence. And number 8, consider temporary contract or freelance work just for short-term gigs to keep you earning and staying connected. Don't sleep on this option because it could be very lucrative. Number 9, stay positive and persistent. Job searching takes time, but your attitude determines your altitude. Let me say that again, your attitude determines your altitude. Keep applying Keep networking and betting on you. Finally, step 10: invest in a career coach or an HR expert like me. You know, having a game plan makes all the difference, and having a great coach will help you make sure that you bounce back. See, we can't stay down, we got to get up. You know, Les Brown, he said, if you can look up, you can get up. And so I need you, need you to be encouraged and know that you can You will, you must bounce back.
