I felt the absolute pleasure of sitting in the presence of greatness when I heard Mr. Kenston Henderson CSP EPIC Experiences today in 2024. This was phenomenal. Two things really stood out to me: the fact that I matter In this presentation, Kenston took a concerted effort, he made a concerted effort to remind those in the room, a group of people that usually don't hear this every day, that they matter. That the work they're doing matters, that the connections they make matter. And the next thing that stood out to me most was the fact that someone with ability chooses to help somebody without. Hi, I'm Melissa DeVoe. I am here at the BSRM 2024 conference, and I just had the opportunity to hear a phenomenal speaker, Kenston Henderson. Listen to me, he brought the fire. He's short in stature, but he is tall in education and informing. He really got us motivated this morning. He started from really telling us who we are, what is it we want, telling us to be true and to be honest with ourselves, and only then can we achieve our goals. So he had us write down what our goals were, and he encouraged us to make it happen. One thing that stuck out that he said was, "We are the change." So I'm leaving here feeling excited. I can't wait to hear him speak again. I can't wait to post him so that my friends can see. He's also, I would say, the son of the soil. He's a Bahamian. He have Bahamian roots. So I look forward to seeing him again. And listen to me, he was phenomenal.
Listen, I had just told a colleague of mine that there was no other speaker that I heard at the Bahamas Society for Human Resource Management Conference 2024 in Nassau, Bahamas. Other than Mr. Kenston Henderson himself, I would be fine. I was tremendously impacted, blessed. He challenged me even internally to want to go and step out in faith, get out of my own head and, you know, take a chance on my own self.
So, it was an amazing experience to have been with Kenston Henderson at the Bahamas Society for Resource Management's CSP EPIC Experiences Guaranteed Guaranteed Experiences Guaranteed Conference. He was our keynote speaker. And he just set the tone for the whole conference. Lots of energy, lots of good content. In addition to that, very, very personable. He did a phenomenal job. It was energetic, it was very interactive, and you know, it had me thinking like, what are my next steps? And one of the things that stuck to me most was that what was my barrier, what was my roadblock? And for me, it was procrastination. And you know, it got me thinking of how can I break this roadblock to continue to come out of my comfort? And one of the things that I know that can assist me with breaking out of procrastination is network. I have a net connection, you know, because, you know, working with HR, you know, like you said, if you're doing HR alone, you're not doing— you're doing it wrong. So network and networking and connection is very, very important. You have each other to motivate you, to hold you responsible. And once I have someone that's holding me accountable or responsible for something, I have no choice but to do it and not procrastinate.
Keynote speaker Kenston Henderson, and I can tell you that the crowd was raving. He was engaging all of us. We were just thrilled to hear exactly, you know, what he had to say, and we were excited. One of the key things that I learned today was to face my FEAR, which is FEAR, um, False Evidence Appearing Real, and replace it with FAIR, which is Facing Everything and Rising.
So any hindrances, without any boundaries, without any reservations, I recommend him wholeheartedly. I promise you, wherever you invite him, he is going to change not only the atmosphere but also the mindset of the persons that are going to be in attendance. Take a chance on him because he's encouraged me to take a chance on me.
