Kevin L. Horne explains why daily razor shaving damages skin: each shave removes a layer that darkens when exposed to sun. He recommends shaving at night or twice weekly, or switching to an electric shaver for daily grooming. He ditched razors entirely for a beard.

Here's a shaving tip for my guys. Listen, fellas, it's unnecessary to shave with this— this is a razor— every day, every morning. It's unnecessary. Every time you shave, you're taking a thin layer— I'm sorry, you're taking a thin layer of skin off of your face. Now we do this in the morning and then we go out in the elements, we did out in the sun, and now the sun is beaming down on this freshly shaven skin. Causing this darkness around this shaved area. It's not necessary. If anything, shave at night. But me, I don't shave at all because I have a beard. But I would recommend, if you're going to shave, shave maybe twice a week with this. If you want to shave every day, this is a shaver. This is what you need. This is as close as it needs to get. The only difference between this and this is the feel of it. This feels smoother, but the look of it is the same. You're still clean shaving. Drop this, pick this up.
