Has anybody ever given you a backhanded compliment or straight up insulted you? This is how I deal with negative comments. If someone were to give you poison, are you willingly going to take that poison? The answer is probably no. For someone who doesn't let their emotions control them, they decide and they dictate what gets let into their lives. If it's something negative, they try to avoid, distance themselves, and if it's something that is positive, they'll try and incorporate that into their daily life. So the lesson is, the next time when someone says something that is insulting to you, don't take it to heart. Don't take it personally. Sometimes criticism reveals more about the speaker than about you, and sometimes it reveals something useful about you. Wisdom is knowing the difference.
