A beekeeper shows how to stop bees from building wild comb by removing gaps in the hive. He breaks away extra comb, shakes off the bees, and fills the space with foundation frames. Leave any void and the bees will fill it with wild comb you'll have to clean up later.

If you leave a void in the hive like this, the bees will just fill it up with wild comb, and that is not what you want because then you've got to clear up all of this wild comb, and they've laid a separate layer there. So I'm going to take that away and fill up this box with frames of foundation. So all I'm going to do is just break away this extra layer. See, that just comes out quite nicely there. Shake all the bees off. Another piece there as well, and then this final bit. Tiny little bit more down there. Fill in the gaps. And there we go, all sorted. Don't leave gaps or the bees will fill them up.
