Abelo Swarm Competition

Beekeepers capture multiple honeybee swarms over a weekend and move them to new hives for Abella. They use nuc boxes to collect swarms from gardens and bushes, watching the bees fan and cluster as they settle in despite rain and cold weather.

First swarm of the year. This swarm is for a bellow, and I'm going to collect this, and then I'll do a video of when I've collected it. So this is catching Sarah's first swarm, and this swarm is for a bellow. We've got it down from up here. We've got it into here, and they're all just nicely tucking in now. There we go. Lovely bees. Hi, this is day two, and my second swarm, and this swarm is for a bellow, and. And I'm now in the middle of the countryside, and let me just turn the camera around, and this is quite a nice big swarm here. Day 2, second swarm. This swarm is for Abella. This is a pretty big swarm, and it's getting really chilly now, and it's definitely gonna rain, and they're just kind of hanging there. And, uh, I'd say that was a prime swarm. It's huge. So I'm gonna collect that, and, uh, yeah, 2 swarms in one weekend. Fantastic.
Hi everyone, so I've just finished work and I've got a message to say there's a swarm of honeybees in somebody's garden. So I picked up my old man to do all the heavy lifting. He's like a little kid at Christmas. So we're gonna have a look at this property and I'll give you an update once we get there. So we've just driven straight past the property. My dad's getting a little bit excited, so if he gets himself So an update for you, my dad's got lost, so we've just turned around. He spat his dummy out a little bit, but I think we're back on track. So we've just arrived at this property and it's only a little baby swarm. I'll just show you before we start doing anything. Just up there, little tiny cluster. Beautiful honeybees. So I'll give you an update once we've got them in the new box, hopefully. As you can see, the bees are fanning in the box, which is always a good sign. And if I haven't mentioned before, this swarm is for Abello.
Abello, this swarm is for you. I don't think my demerit worked.
This is swarm number 3 this week. I think this is the cast swarm from the big swarm that I caught the other day because they've landed about a foot from where that one is. This is the swarm. As you can see, it's quite little, so I'm going to collect it up now and take it to where I keep the bees and And they look quite nice bees to me. And this swarm is for a bellow.
This swarm catcher is for a bellow. This is the swarm capture for Bellow, so we're now back at the out apiary where we're going to install them. Here we go, the first swarm actually of the season and of ever. So this swarm is for a bellow. Let's hope, uh, we can get something better than my fly nuc box. But let's get up there, let's catch the swarm. Let's come up the tree. This swarm's for a bellow. Looks like they're all going in. Closed it up. Nice little three-frame nuc. Let them settle in. Come back in a little while. Close them all up.
This swarm is for a belli. This swarm is for Abella. Swarm number four. Lots of bees, bees on my hair as well from the looks of it. This is a really nice swarm. It was on a goalpost and in some bushes, and I've collected it up. And this is my favorite bit of catching the bees, which is to get them here and. If you can see what they're doing, they're all fanning to get the rest of the bees that are floating around in the air to come in because I'm giving them a new home. And then they're going to be all safe now, and they're really nice bees. And this swarm is for Abella.
This swarm is for Abella.
Right, didn't get this on video, but, um, you wouldn't believe it, but, uh, maybe you would believe it. I caught this queen of mine. There she is. One swarm up here. I've let the swarm out. I've popped her back in with her bees. They're very quiet to do that. Very lovely ladder. The
