A beekeeper explains where to add a new super during heavy nectar flow. Placing it directly on top of the queen excluder, underneath the existing super, gives bees more space near the brood nest and relieves hive congestion.

I do get asked this question a lot. Should you put the new super directly on this super here, or should it go underneath directly above the queen excluder? I don't think it makes a massive difference either way, but with the weather as it is at the moment, the crazy flow, I am definitely taking the brand new super with foundation, and I'm going to place it underneath directly on top of the queen excluder to try and give the bees a bit more space near that brood nest and ease the congestion.
