Darren builds beehive floors from recycled varroa mesh, cutting grooves with a circular saw and screwing it into place. The custom floor door uses a 10 mm piece and angled cuts to let you adjust the opening for bees, attach a mouse guard, or close it completely for transport.

So this are just— it's all recycled stuff out of skips. And so these are my floors I make. I did buy a big roll of varroa mesh and I've put it through my circular saw, table saw, and just cut a groove all the way around, screw it together with the mesh in. But the bit I wanted to show you was these floor doors. So all it is is a piece of 10mm by 10mm across the front with a little screw in and a screw cut on the angle. So you can open it up to let your bees out, really wide space. You can fit a mouse guard tacked across the front, and then you can reduce it down to one bee space, or you can close it up altogether if you're transporting.
