Three weeks of rain and temperatures around 24-25°C signal high swarm risk for honeybee colonies. Hive Q combines hive-scale weight data with weather to narrow the traditional six-week swarm window down to roughly ten days, giving beekeepers more precise alerts.

I can say to you at the moment, you know what, it's been 3 weeks of rain and the days are still getting longer for the next 4 days and it's 24, 25 degrees. You know, I know it's going to be swarm central here, but for beginner beekeepers, they don't know that. But I can give them this quite broad guidance to say this is likely when it's going to be, but look around at the conditions, look at the weather, look at the forecast, look at your bees, do all of that. This bit here is the icing on the cake because it's potentially going to allow them to look at the data And then we also understand that we've got that not everyone is going to want or need to have these hive scales in all of their apiaries or even in any of their apiaries. So our project is to look at how we can use this data to refine and restrict those little kind of sections down to say to people, well, it's not a 6-week period you need to worry about swarming. We think for you in this very specific zone is going to be these 10 days of the year, and we hope, and this is the punt, that the data should be relatively reliable.
