How To Uncap Honey Frames - Lyson Automatic Heated Uncapping Machine Review

The Lyson automatic heated uncapping machine uses temperature-controlled serrated knives to slice wax cappings as frames move through by gravity, collecting wax for later honey recovery. The premium model handles up to ten frames continuously and includes a riving knife for low-capped frames, eliminating manual touch-ups and cutting labor time during harvest.

This is where the process starts. We have got a full capped honey frame sealed by the bees to protect the honey inside, and normally you'd uncap this using a knife, a fork, or a heated uncapping gun maybe. But the license uncapping machine takes things to a completely different level. I place the frames into the guides on the top of the machine. Inside there are heated serrated knives that gently slice away the wax cappings as the frame is pulled through via gravity. The temperature of these blades is precisely controlled so it cuts cleanly without overheating the honey or damaging the comb. This means we get a perfect even. Uncap every single time. As the frame moves through, the heated blades just skim below the cappings, exposing the honey cells beneath. The wax cappings fall away into a collection tray below, where they'll be processed later using our wax capping screw press to recover any trapped honey. This is one of the reasons that I love this machine. It's fast, efficient, and there is virtually no waste. Once the frames come out the other side, it's perfectly uncapped and ready to go straight into the extractor. No touch-ups needed, no uneven cuts, and no risk of damaging this comb. Compared to manual uncapping, this saves a huge amount of time, especially when you're processing hundreds or even thousands of frames during peak harvest. All of the cappings are collected cleanly, which makes it much easier to recover that trapped honey using a mechanical screw press. No heat is used at any stage, so the honey stays completely raw and natural. For me, the Lyson heated uncapping machine has completely transformed my honey extraction process. It is fast, clean, efficient, and it delivers consistent results every single time. If you're working at scale and want to save time without compromising quality, I highly recommend checking this machine out, and I've included a link in the description. One final note of caution though. The machine that I've got does not have a thing called a riving knife. The newer premium machines that you'll see from Lyson do have this feature. Definitely get one with the riving knife because that will mean that even if your frames are capped below the line of where the wood is, you still have a chance of getting it out with the riving knife. This version here, you need to make sure the frames are spaced correctly, and then the machine will work perfectly. Another upgrade that they have is a chain-driven feed system versus a gravity feed system. The gravity feed system, you can get 1, 2, or 3 frames in, whereas the chain-fed system, you can put 10 frames on at once and leave it there, and it will just do it all automatically for you. There's a little bit of price difference, but make sure if you're going to get one of these machines, get both of those features built in from the beginning.
