In this on‑site video, Laurence Edwards walks viewers through the National Bee Supplies (NBS) stand at the Beekeeping Show, highlighting the company’s unique product offerings and sustainable practices. He showcases NBS’s sterilised wax foundations that are free of Nosema and foulbrood pathogens, and displays a wide range of foundation types. Edwards then focuses on the Western Red Cedar WBC hives, explaining the use of Western red cedar (not English cedar), the controlled moisture content (10‑12%) that preserves bee space, and the appealing scent and aesthetics. He mentions a 10% show discount, the flat‑pack format of brood boxes, lifts, floors, and queen excluders, and the inclusion of free wildflower seed packets for pollinator support. Finally, he emphasizes NBS’s waste‑minimisation strategy of using cedar off‑cuts to create unique products, and ends with a call to like and subscribe.

I'm at the Telford International Centre giving you a sneak peek into the National Bee Supplies stand at the Beekeeping Show. Really excited to be here, gonna be an incredible day tomorrow. Before that happens though, I'm gonna give you a sneak preview into the National Bee Supplies stand and show you some of the things that none of the other vendors can offer you here. Right, so National Bee Supplies are the only company at the show that provide you with sterilised wax foundation. You can read it there, free from all known pathogens, including Nosema, European and American foulbrood. What's amazing with this is they manage to keep all of that colour in the wax as well, whilst bringing it up to that higher temperature. So here you go, you can see their wide range of different foundations. Worker Brood, Wired, Langstroth Commercial, tons of different options on display. Right, this one here immediately caught my eye. Beautiful Western Red Cedar WBC hive. That would look so nice just sitting in your garden. Got next to it here, same one, Western Red Cedar, standard National Brood, National Super. Really like the quality of that wood. So a couple of differentiators here. We've got the English cedar and we've got the Western red cedar. Speaking to the guys at National Bee Supplies, they only use the Western red cedar. They take it back to their facilities and they bring the moisture content down to about 10 or 12%, which means that once that wood finally dries out, you're maintaining your bee space across all of the beehives. Quality here, you can see, is really, really important. And for me, there is nothing better than the smell of Western red cedar. So you can see they've got the show offer, 10% off. Might be a little bit late here for 2023, but I'm sure they'll be back here at 2024. Get your pre-orders in. As you can see, got all the equipment here down into flat pack version. Got your brood boxes, got your lifts for your WBCs, you've got some floors, queen excluders, all really, really good, top-notch Western red cedar. So lovely little touch here, little packets of wildflower seeds. People can take those home, support the pollinators in their gardens. Right, so this is probably the favourite part of this stand here. Just speaking to the owner and he said with the cost of cedar going up through the roof, they're doing absolutely everything they can to completely minimise the amount of wastage of all of their cedar. Really good quality looking products and it means that no cedar at all goes to waste in the production of these beehives. So there we go, that was a look around the National Bee Supplies stand at the Beekeeping Show. Love the fact that they're using the offcuts to make really unique cedar products.
