Laurence Edwards shows how to winterize mini long-hive nucs by insulating them, cutting a pop-out hole, and positioning a feeder on top. He pours syrup and rescues any trapped bees, getting the colonies ready for cold months.

I place correct insulation boards over the top. I cut out a hole with a knife, that just pops out. I lever off the ventilation hole, take that off, bees come out to say hi. Place on my insulation board, get my feeder into position, pour some syrup in, scoop out any bees that get stuck, and the bees are now fed. Do you want to know how we feed our mini long hive nucs for winter?
