The hive fell off and it was my fault! #Bees #honey #stands #broken #fixed

A beekeeper's Lyson hive with four deep supers crashes off its wooden stand at the apiary. The stand snapped under the weight, not rot. He struggles to lift the heavy, honey-laden hive back into place while the bees stay calm throughout.

I got a call to say that a hive had fallen off. So I went straight up to the apiary and I kind of had in my mind, I think I know which one has fallen over. And it wasn't that one. It was this big massive Lyson one here. And as you can see, the stand had given way, like the wood had broken because the hive had so much honey in it. I'm not even joking. 4 Langstroth deeps. And you can see like me trying to recover the mess there. See where it's just snapped straight through? And yeah, lots of mess. But wait for this bit here. When I try and lift this up, I am not ready for it. I did not think it was going to be that heavy. And I think I can only just about get it off the ground. There is some serious leg movement involved here. I'm kind of amazed, yeah, that it didn't smash the poly as well. It's one solid big lump. I'm struggling at this point. I'm really like there, oh geez, I have to stop and give myself a little bit of a break there because it was so ridiculously heavy. And there we go, I go again, and I just about managed. About halfway through, you're like, yes, it's going now, the momentum is there. That's one to fix later on this week. I'll flip The little 14 by 12 back up as well. And the bees were remarkably calm. I didn't get hurt or battered at all there. And you can see I'm not wearing gloves. But look at the wood, it's not rotten. There's nothing wrong with the wood, there's nothing wrong with the stands other, other than it's just had a huge weight placed directly on the middle of it and it has snapped. I've got this apiary back under control now, and I really do like this apiary. The way the sun comes in in the evening there, it's a beautiful sunrise but really nice sunset as well.
