"Anxiety-Free" Paraliminal, Session A, with Dr. Paul Scheele

Dr. Paul Scheele guides you through building confidence by recalling past successes and anchoring them with small physical cues like a gentle fist. He reframes anxiety as a projection of future scarcity, then offers imagery and anchors to interrupt the habit and shift toward resourceful states.

Hello and welcome. It is Tuesday in December and that means that our focus for paraliminals is on the anxiety free session. A I consider anxiety free to be one of the most important paralyminals. The way in which this particular program works has two important functions that I would invite you not only to use to their maximum ability, but also to use it on an ongoing basis. See, the first component of this is called building resourceful states. You've had successes in your life and when you think about those successes, you flood your body and your brain with positive emotions and the capacities to be able to accomplish what it is you're choosing to achieve.
That is called a resource. And if you create what we call a stack of resources and make those available to you, you can trigger those whenever you want or need them. Now the opposite of that is called anxiety. Anxiety is when we're facing a potential future situation and what we do is we gain access to all of the examples in our lives where we have messed up, where we've failed, where we have clutched, where we have not been able to accomplish what we want. And we move into a fear of SCARC or insufficiency. I'm not going to be enough, I'm not going to be supported, I won't be safe enough. And as a result, we project those into the future and we look at all of those and think, oh my goodness, this is going to be a mess. Now what your non conscious mind and your physical body is going to do is it's going to say stop, don't proceed. It's going to stop you on the threshold and of some important choice that you need to make in order to be able to accomplish what you want to accomplish.
That anxiety state is a natural physiological response to feelings of insufficiency. So what we want to be able to do is when we're looking to the future and saying, okay, there's the event that I would like to be able to accomplish and now I'm going to take my stack of resourceful states, put them in front of me and say, see, you can do this, your mind can do this, you have the power to be able to accomplish this. Let's take the next small step forward. So if you could imagine that every time you experience a positive or resourceful state where you recognize you're sufficiently resourced, you're up to the task, you can do what you set your mind to, you have adequate support, the universe loves you, you're safe right now, you can take a next step. What we want to do is we want to stack those together and make those available. And what some people do is they'll make a gentle fist or they'll place their hand on their forehead or the back of their head, or they do something, pull their earlobe or you know, some kind of behavior that anchors gives you a stimulus to trigger a similar response in the future. So what anxiety free session A does is it starts out by taking a number of resourceful states and lets you feel those, really immerse yourself in that. So consider that as an ongoing practice today and throughout this month. Find times of highly resourceful states. And one that's talked about on this is do you know that sense of positive expectancy where someone gives you a gift and you think you might know what it is and you're really hopeful, you've got this optimism and you peel open the package and you discover there is a gift that you've been hoping for? Well, that's a very resourceful state, positive expectancy. In fact, people who have studied, psychologists who have studied high performance under extremely stressful conditions understand that optimism, having an optimistic view of one's future is key to being able to survive but also thrive under duress under the pressures of the moment. So consider that as one aspect of anxiety free. The other aspect is this ability to look broadly and from above the entire trajectory of what it is you're attempting to do. So imagine that you could float up really high over your life and see your life's timeline where there's the past, there's the present and there's the future. Now if you could see that and you could see the situation that you would like to be able to succeed at, and imagine being on the other side of that success and experiencing that and feeling that and immersing yourself in that, there is a win. There is a part of you that says, oh, I can do this, I can accomplish this. Anxiety is the exact opposite of that. And what that is is it brings you up just before the accomplishment of the event and looks at it and says, what if I messed up in all the ways I've messed up in the past? That's just a habit of mind. And that's the habit of mind that you shift with the anxiety free paralimal. Now there are two sides to this. So tomorrow we're going to be exploring session B and understand the very fine distinctions that you have access to in that. But if you can think of anxiety as being an emotion of the future.
It'S not an emotion of the present moment. It's actually.
An imagined future that you don't feel that you're resourced enough to be able to handle. When people say, I had an anxiety attack, what exactly is that? How are they being attacked by their anxiety? Well, they say, well, it's my mind, it's my saboteur. No, your mind is your protector. What's the anxiety response protecting you from? It's protecting you from those thoughts and feelings you're projecting into a hypothetical future. So as long as the mind is already doing that sort of thing, just take that projection of resource and put it just past the situation where you've successfully accomplished what it is you want to achieve.
Then what happens is this present moment is one of optimism, a positive expectancy, a sense of strength, a sense that, I can do this. It's a fabulous experience. This paralympical is absolutely essential in everybody's library. I'm going to assume you have it and I would invite you as soon as you can today to go ahead and listen to Anxiety Free Session A. If you don't have that paraliminal, find another one that you can listen to. Keep in mind this idea that throughout this day and perhaps this entire month, keep stacking those positive, resourceful states, even if it's in the palm of your hand, so you can access those anytime you want in the future. Have a spectacular day. We'll see you again tomorrow.
