"New Action Generator" Paraliminal with Dr. Paul Scheele

Dr. Paul Scheele presents the New Action Generator, a protocol for creating strategic actions across three levels: strategy, governance, and tactics. The approach splits into two sessions: one for broad creative generation of solutions to close gaps between current and desired states, and one for implementation and future-pacing to teach your parts the desired outcome.

Welcome to this session. This session is about the new Action Generator. You know, there are a number of very cool parallel that we've published. There's the New Behavior Generator was the first one. The new History Generator came along. The New Action Generator is a very important one. And there is a distinction between the New Action Generator and the New Behavior Generator. People often ask me, what is that difference? New Behavior Generator is about identifying a particular behavior that someone else demonstrates quite well. And then you model it. And.
It'S something that your mind naturally does. It models new behaviors. That's how we learned how to walk and speak. New Action Generator is a much more strategic approach to getting you where you want to go. And so if you can think about in an organization, in a business, there are really three major types of activities that we engage in in order to accomplish our goal. The first one is to establish strategy. Now that's a very long arc, very slow waveform. And that is something we would do on an annual basis or semi annual basis. We check in and what's our strategic objectives, where we're, where are we going? And on the lowest level, it's what we call tactical or operational. It's very fast. These are meetings we might have standing around the water cooler, standing meetings and somebody's office. It might be tactical sessions that we'd have as a group on a weekly basis. But these are things that we're really paying attention to in order to execute on strategy. There's another one that's in between. This is what a lot of people miss. It's called governance. And this is how we work with each other. So I want you to think about. The new Action Generator is really embodying all three of these levels. First of all, we're establishing this big arc of the dream that you have that you would like to be able to accomplish. And we're thinking specifically about what are the behaviors that are going to be able to get you the specific actions that allow you to execute that strategy and effectively accomplish what it is you want. And then there is this relationship that you have with yourself and others. And that is an important part of what Paralympical technology really gives you. It's a way of communicating with the rich resources of your non conscious mind. If you're the executive director of an organization, you have all these different departments and all these different individuals interacting on a daily basis to get it done, done, get things done. This is what we call a complex adaptive system. And what your job is, is to make sure that the right interactions are taking Place in order to be able to get where you want to go. Well, now, let's bring that to a personal level. Think of all the cells. Think of all the parts of you, all interacting in order to get you where you want to go. It's like your physical body, your brain and mind are a complex adaptive system, always working to get you where you want to go.
So if you think of that conceptually as what new Action generator is about, it's a very powerful strategic way to get you to the dreams that you hold. Now, there's one other component that's quite significant about this. When you think about taking an action to get where you want to go, there's oftentimes two components. One are behaviors that you're engaging in that aren't assisting you in getting you where you want to go. So one of the things you could ask is, what is it that I'm doing, or what is it I'm not doing.
That'S helping me get what it is I'm committed to achieving?
That's something that we need to ask ourselves. It's a deeply honest question, my call, brutally honest, to take a look at your behaviors and say, wow, you know, here are all these things I'm doing that are really keeping me stuck. I need to do something different in order to get where I want to go. And if you can look at what you're doing that's working, we want to do more of that.
In my second book, natural Brilliance, I talk about a problem solving strategy. It was originally designed for a large company here in the midwest for a program that we ran for many years as a consultant to their human resource training and development division. It was called creativity and problem solving. So creativity is a very right brain activity. Problem solving is often a very rational left brain activity. And what I outline in that model is actually built in to what the new action Generator is about. We're holding two thoughts simultaneously. One is, what is it?
Where are we in our present state? And where is our desired outcome, our desired end result, and the gap between here and there? That's our problem. That's the problem that needs to get solved, and we're going to get it solved by the creative use of our imagination. So session a of New Action generator is about what are the possibilities? What are the choices? What are the variety of ways that we can go from point A to point B? Oftentimes, working with organizations, there's very little debate about where it is we're going. But there's plenty of debate about how we're going to get there. The new Action Generator is an exploration of how are you going to get there. If you've listened to the genius code course that I did with Dr. Win Wenger, you'll know that we talk about problem solving as being a creative activity. You shouldn't decide on your first, second or third choices. Should allow your mind to wander through 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 different choices. Because very often in the creative process, our breakthroughs are going to occur much later in a later generation of potential problem solving strategies. So in the model that I present in Natural Brilliance, essentially what we're doing is we're looking at what's the difference between point A and point B? What are some ways we could get there? What are some solutions to that problem, and what problems will that cause?
If we were to have those problems cause, what would be the solution of those problems? And so it is an interaction between problem, solution, problem solution, problem solution, problem, back and forth. And that's a creative activity that requires some time. Now, as you begin to generate possible solutions, every solution you come up with will create some additional problems. But there's an ideal, there's a sweet spot that we're going for. And this iterative process of allowing the mind to think about possibilities, ruling out the behaviors that you've used in the past to get you where you've gotten to today, looking at creative ways to truly break through to that genius level idea that's going to help you get you where you want to go.
In the studies that I did, what I found out is that most of the time we spend 20% of of our problem solving.
On identifying the problem. And we spend 80%, or excuse me, 20% identifying the problem in generating a solution. And then 80% of our time is in implementing the solution that we've come up with. And quite often, especially in large, complex adaptive systems.
We create a beautiful solution to the wrong problem. So we end up spending a lot of time implementing something that just gets us back to where we started from. And so what we're going for is 80% of our time identifying the problem and generating potential solutions until we get the right one. And then 20% of our time is in the implementation of the strategy that we have come up with. Make sense? So on the 8020 rule, what we're doing is we're really flip flopping the traditional way that people go about solving their current situation.
Remember, you've heard me say this in many of our sessions together, most of the problems you face today are the result of the unintended consequence.
Of your current problem solving. In other words, what you're experiencing is the result of all the ways in which you've solved your problem up until now. And if this problem is the one you're trying to solve, don't use the same problem solving strategy. You've got to come up with a paradigm shift, a solution to the problem solution model you've been working with up until now.
This is where New Action Generator also is really, really effective. So listen to session A in the New Action Generator to really allow the mind a creative license to explore. Explore big. Explore broadly. Try things that you hadn't thought of. You can do it in your imagination quite effectively. Then session B is about implementation.
So again, on the big scheme of things, we've got strategy, we've got tactics for implementation, and we've got governance in between those. And your relationship with yourself on the arc of getting to where you want to go is really key. Paraliminal technology puts you in communication with those highly creative parts of you, the brilliance of your higher mind. And one of the things that we're doing with the.
Protocol in New Action Generator is we're actually imagining living at that desired end result and seeing what's working, what's not, and adjusting until it's just right. Future pacing is the concept, but living into that future then teaches all the parts of you that this is where we're going, and so much more spontaneously and automatically you're going to see the new behaviors that you need, the new actions that are required showing up and getting implemented. So there is a, as you've heard me say, a grace and an ease by which we're able to move toward the dreams that have eluded us up until now. So dream big.
If you can imagine it and if you can believe it, you know that you can achieve it. Have a blessed day. Peace and blessings. Thanks so much for being a part of this and we'll see you next time we're doing one of these sessions. Bye for now.
