"Overcoming Overwhelm" Paraliminal with Dr. Paul Scheele

Dr. Paul Scheele guides you through a paraliminal session to break the overwhelm cycle, where your brain retreats from tasks through fear and avoidance. He teaches you to anchor into deep peace using imagery like walking behind a waterfall, then project forward to a successful outcome and return to the present, so you can access calm and agency instead of panic when decisions hit.

And it's time. We are officially on. So I do believe everything is set. We're ready to go.
Welcome.
This session is about overcoming overwhelm. Paralympical. Now, there is a lot to be said about this topic, so let's zero in. First and foremost, what is overwhelm? If I say to you, do you feel overwhelmed? Most people would say, no, I'm not overwhelmed. But if I say, are there any areas of your life where you might not be achieving what you desire, where there's piles of papers that you're not getting to, where you've got tasks that are incomplete, where there's projects that you've been wanting to finish that remain unfinished, that when an opportunity presents itself, you might hesitate or procrastinate on it.
In each of those situations, when the decision point comes to do something about this, there's a moment at which you back away from it. I'll get to that later. I'll handle that. Now. If you have any of those sorts of things, avoidance patterns, addictions, any of that, those are all signs of overwhelm. Now, consciously, you might not have the experience of overwhelm. That's because your neurophysiology, your brain and body are trying to protect you from being overwhelmed. But when you look at any one of those tasks that need to get done in a tenth of a second, what happens is the brain accesses areas of unresourcefulness, fears about what might occur, the unknown. How long is this going to take? Whatever it might be, time, energy, money, there is this momentary, I mean, a split second that we download into our brain, body a sense of, this is more than I want to deal with right now. That's a sense of overwhelm. So in each one of these cases, we're not really pausing to consider, wait, wait, wait a minute. I can handle this. I know I can deal with this. I've done this kind of thing before. I've got the resources within me instead. Because we're moving fast, we're zipping past it, all of a sudden, we're overwhelmed. We're not attending to our resourcefulness. And it's very important to understand that what you have inside of you at every moment in time is this place of deep peace, of deep resourcefulness, the present moment, right here, right now, if you really tune into it, you're okay. And when you tap into that sense of peace, you can also recognize that you have a sense of agency. There are things that you can do, take care of yourself, and.
That you have hope for the future. There is a possibility for something that you would like to be able to accomplish and that you can now, in those moments, if you could tap that resourcefulness and then project it into the future, you'll know. I can get this done. I can handle it right now. It's okay. It's. I'll just handle it. And so much more gets accomplished with a sense of flow and ease. We call it ease and grace. Now, if you study the mind of a child, I have the opportunity to be with grandkids here. And one of the things that often happens is children become afraid of the dark.
What is it in the dark that is to be feared?
Nature's beautiful. The stars are out, sounds are amazing. There's nothing to be afraid of. Well, what they're afraid of is what their mind is projecting into the darkness, into the shadows. And they're not seeing monsters in those shadows. If they look, they can't see it, but they can imagine monsters in those shadows. And it's not the dark that they're afraid of. It's their own mind that they're afraid of. Now, for thousands of years, humanity has understood that all suffering is created by the mind. And when we can master what's happening in the mind.
We obliterate any sense.
Of suffering.
So if a child says, oh, there's monster there.
A monster. Are you sure? Can you absolutely know that there's a monster there? What happens when you believe that there's monster there? Who would you be without that thought? Then turn that thought around. This is a concept called the work of Byron, Katie. It's an inquiry process. Well, in a tenth of a second, we don't get the opportunity to question our mind that way. And so the overcoming overwhelm, paraliminal is essentially anchoring you to that amazing sense of resourcefulness that exists within you all the time.
In every meditative tradition, there is a concept of meditating in a cave in the darkness, where you can actually see what's going on in your mind because there's no other stimuli happening. So the metaphor in this particular paralyminal is you're walking along a stream, there's a beautiful waterfall, you walk behind the waterfall and there's a cave, and you sit in the cave and feel this sense of peace. And if we could get behind the veil of the illusion, the veil of the water, the veil of the illusory mind, and go to that place of peace within us, that becomes a resource in and of itself. Now, the change work that's happening during this paralimal is you're going up to a higher perspective, traveling into the future, going beyond the time when you're successful, success has occurred, and then coming back to this present moment, recognizing you do have the resources within you to accomplish it. Now, once your brain and mind understand this basic protocol, this is how we overcome overwhelm. This is how we eliminate anxiety. This is how we gain access to resources within us. So that in a tenth of a second, when you're looking at a task or a project that needs to get completed, instead of hesitating, procrastinating, what your brain mind gets in contact with is deep peace and abundant resource. That's having control of your mind. We release ourselves from the suffering that the human mind and imagination can produce. That's why I say your imagination can be a healer or a slayer. If you've got a situation or a problem that you've got to face, and it's a big one.
All right, you're going to face it. Why not face it with a sense of confidence, with a sense of resourcefulness, being tied in to this present moment, really anchored here in this place? Peace. It is your natural state.
So if you understand overwhelm, if you understand that cognitive overwhelm will have a tendency to affect your attention, your perception, your thinking, your decision making, your memory, your responding, all of it, then it really behooves us all to be able to recognize when overwhelm is having its way with us, and then quickly be able to shift to a more resourceful state. Now, every time you listen to a paralyminal, you're really practicing this connection. You're practicing coming back to the present moment, feeling yourself relaxed here, noticing your breath, closing your eyes, listening to the sounds being present. The effect that a paraliminal will have as a result of going through these protocols is that you will automatically and spontaneously tap into this resourcefulness more often than not. And if you can identify any areas where you're not getting the results that you want, this is a great parallel to get you back on track.
Enjoy it and have an absolutely spectacular day. Peace and blessings. We'll see you in the next session.
