Elevating your heels during squats increases depth and range of motion, but metal-on-wood platforms cause your foot to slip. Use rubber-on-wood or a fully rubber surface instead for the grip you need.

Today's training awareness: be aware of what you're using to elevate your heels when squatting. Now I know the off-season is here, right? Sometimes we want to elevate those heels to get the extra depth in our range of motion that maybe we don't have naturally. So as you're coming down— go ahead, go on down— right, be aware of what you're using, right? This is metal on wood. This is not good. As you can see, foot slides out, right? So we got to be aware of that. What you want to do is use rubber on wood Or if you can, just use a rubber surface all the time. That way you get the friction you need, you get the stability you need, and now this move can actually be safe with those heels elevated, getting that extra range of motion that you need.
