Cuts on your shins during heavy lifts bleed onto the barbell knurling. If you pass a contaminated bar to the next lifter, you risk spreading infection. Pull your socks up, bandage cuts immediately, and clean the bar before anyone else uses it.

In today's training awareness, we're going to be talking about sanitation. With younger lifters, we often see when they start doing pulls from the ground, whether it be Olympic lifts or deadlifts, they get cuts on their shin and then they don't say anything and there's blood in the knurling and then they go switch off with another lifter. This is bad. We don't want to get an infection in the weight room. We're here to build, not lose time. So with Josh here, he pulls his crew socks up. So if you have crew socks, it's important, pull them up. If you happen to still get a cut, Clean it up, tape it, and clean the bar. Let's just not keep passing the bar to the next guy. Again, we're trying to build.
