A spotter should stay out of the lifter's line of sight, avoid sweating on them after a set, and keep quiet during the lift. Small details matter for safety and performance.

Today's training awareness: let's be aware of common courtesy and training etiquette while spotting a bench press or even encouraging a bench press. You don't want to be the guy that's leaning right over the athlete and you're in his line of vision, in his sight, distracting him, or you could even be sweating on him if you just completed a set. The second guy you don't want to be is this guy right here yelling and screaming at him because you're also in his line of vision and you're distracting him while he's trying to complete a complex movement. Even though it looks simple, there's still a lot of details that you have to be aware of and be cognizant of as you're pushing that weight up so you don't get hurt. So be aware of that common courtesy and training etiquette.
