David Gonzalez on Starting the Original Internet Marketing Party

David Gonzalez started free internet marketing parties in Austin nine years ago, then moved to paid events. Three attendees became millionaires after participating. He credits consistency and building a legacy as the core formula behind the sold-out gatherings.
You are famous for your internet marketing parties. You had one here in San Diego which was standing room only. You had Jay Abraham who came on and spoke and gave really great tidbits. What is your secret sauce on how you get all those people interested in paying you money to come to a party to buy their own drinks? I'd love to know how you do that.
It's got to do with consistency and legacy. I mean, we started it out as a just kind of doing it. When we first started it in Austin over 9 years ago, it was free. And then over time, a friend of mine said, dude, you realize that you're creating a misalignment in universal equality, or I forgot how he said it, but equity. In that there's— I know he's like, I know 3 people that have become millionaires as a result of attending your party. Oh my goodness. And at the time, I had been doing some affiliate management for a company, and I was between things, and I had had a very successful company prior to that. And quite frankly, I was kind of in a low point in my life, and I was in a low point financially.
So you needed that conversation?
Yeah, I needed that conversation. And that little kick in the butt to actually create something worthwhile. And I was like, well, I don't really know what to do. I was kind of Floundering. And he's like, well, the first thing you could do is you could start charging people to come to the party because it's, it's unfair. And I know people that actually have now gotten to the point where they avoid you because you've provided so much value to them that they feel uncomfortable, but they don't know how to reciprocate.
