In this instructional video, Ian walks viewers through the complete process of minting an NFT on OpenSea. He begins by advising users to set up a crypto wallet (e.g., MetaMask) and connect it to OpenSea, emphasizing the importance of verifying signing prompts. He then demonstrates creating a new item: uploading an image, adding a title, optional external link (unlockable content), description, and assigning it to a collection. Ian explains optional metadata fields—Properties, Levels, Stats, and unlockable or sensitive content—used to enrich the NFT’s attributes. He discusses supply settings (1‑of‑1 vs. multiple copies) and choosing a blockchain (Ethereum vs. Polygon), noting the gas‑fee differences. After minting, he shows how to list the NFT for sale, selecting either a fixed price or timed auction, setting price in ETH, choosing duration and start/end dates, and confirming the transaction via the wallet. Finally, he covers post‑listing management: editing metadata, adjusting price, or canceling the listing (with possible fees). The video also references external resources (Global Leaders Collective tutorials and Lee’s NFT course) and ends with a call‑to‑action to subscribe.
Today, we're going to go through the step-by-step process on how to mint your NFT. So follow this video. I have one of our experts standing by to clue you in on all the steps you need to know right now.
Hey everybody, this is Ian. Now I'm going to take you through how to actually mint your NFT from start to finish. So first thing, you want to set up your wallet and then connect your wallet to OpenSea. If you need more guidance in this, go ahead and go to the Global Leaders Collective website, and there we have tutorials and step-by-step guides on how to do just this thing. Or you can sign up for Lee's new course on NFTs that takes you through everything you need to know from start to finish of understanding NFTs like an expert. Next, after you set up your wallet, you're going to go to create. Your MetaMask should come on and it's going to tell you that you're signing on to OpenSea. You want to make sure that you always check what you're actually signing. Now OpenSea is a verifiable website that sells billions of dollars worth of NFTs on a monthly basis. So we're pretty safe here. Once you click in, you're now going to find this site coming up. Create a new item. So I'm going to drag and click the image that I want to use. Now this is an image that Lee and I took while in Maui. Next, I'm going to title the image. Now if there's an external link that you want, so let's say I have the original image or some video connected to this that I've linked to a YouTube page, I can go ahead and put the URL right here. Only the person that buys this will have access to it under the unlockable content. Here, I can put a description. If you have a collection set already set up, you can add that to that specific collection set. Like if I had MAUI, as a collection set and I was minting multiple images of our trip to Maui in that, then that's where I'd put it. Under here, under Properties, Levels, Stats, and we talked about unlockable content and explicit or sensitive content if you're an artist of some kind using something of adult nature. All these are more add-ons, specifically if you're using like the Bored Apes Or CryptoPunks, which are the most commonly, commonly known. These allow you to have attributes that are listed when people are looking to buy them. Next, you want to look at supply. So this will be a 1 of 1. In another podcast, we actually talk about the difference between 1 of 1 and the multiple ones, like 10,000 at a time. Following, you get to pick which blockchain you want to use it on. Now, if you don't understand what that means, in the most common sense, blockchain is a system of files that are all synced together. That is the blockchain. The Ethereum is one type of blockchain or its own project. And on OpenSea, you have a choice of using the Polygon network, a different project which uses the MATIC token. So you get to choose which one you want to use. When it comes to the buyer, the person who buys this NFT, if you're using Ethereum, the gas fees will be significantly more than on the Polygon network. So we're going to stick to Ethereum just for now and then create. Now, depending on the time of day and how busy the platform is, because each transaction has to be verified before it comes back, So I can share this on any type of social media, or I can just click the link and I can go ahead and share it with Lee later because she'll be surprised. She doesn't know I'm doing this. And that's it, you're ready to go. Now to sell, all you have to do is click on sell. I can have a fixed price or time auction. It's set up under the ETH protocol, so we're going to do for 0.01 1 ETH, which is $31.54 in this moment as evaluated by the market. The duration you can choose, it can be a day, it can be a month, it can be a week, it can be even a year. And you can start it from, from the beginning time to the end time. So you can have a release date that can be in 3 days And only last for 2 days. So we're doing it for 1 day— actually, let's do it for 6:30 PM on Wednesday and finish February the 18th at 6:30 PM. And then there'll be a fee of 2.5% And then my MetaMask will open up, or wallet that you're using that's connected to OpenSea. And you want to verify and sign off on it. It's confirming, and my item will be listed to the public on the date and time that we chose. So we can now view the item, and as you can see here, it's not quite ready yet because I've put it in the future. In case we wanted to do a launch and prep everybody beforehand to let them know that this was coming. But everything is set up here. And as you can see, I can open up and look at the history of this on the actual blockchain and be ready. You have a choice to lower the price or cancel the listing. If you cancel the listing, there is a processing fee sometimes. If it's already been minted. So be careful of that. Or I can just edit the actual thing itself. So if I forgot to add the external link, I can go and put it in there. If I have a typo, anything of that nature, it'll say submit changes successful, and you're done.
We hope you enjoyed this episode. And you know what? Right now I want to ask you to subscribe and ring the bell to be notified weekly for new videos just like this one. Just like this one. See you on the inside.
